Do your dishes match?

I have the good china that matches and is rarely used, then I have a set of*good* dinnerware that sometimes gets used, and then I have the everyday stuff that is a combination of what I had and what my husband had when we combined households. We do have some matching glasses and cups but, for the most part, our cabinets are a mixture of what we had and what we've bought since. I also like color so I have an assortment of plastic plates, bowls, tumblers and a big salad bowl in pretty pastels...some from last year and some I picked up this year so they don't really match either.

My everyday dishes used to match many years ago. They don't any more. Some of broken and been replaced with substitutes. Now my good China does match. They are beautiful and well cared for. We only use them for special occasions. I do enjoy using them as often as possible so a special day might be 5 times a month. Like your friend, I like to find unusual pieces at yard sales.

im sure your friends dishes serve the purpose wheather they match or not,why does this matter so much to you?

I have one matching set of dinner plates and a few odds and ends that I've picked up along the way. I want a change so I might look for another set soon.

80% of mine are white,but there is the odd bowl that belonged to my gran or maybe a plate i used to carry food from my dad house.The mugs are white too,but i dont use those ones,they are too small.I prefer my pig,cow,animal mugs

My crockery matches and is all the same aqua/turquoise colour with pretty scalloped edges. This crockery was bought a few months ago as I was fed up with having parts of about 5 different dinner sets and everything getting chipped and broken! lol I am sure that this set (well actually it is 2 the same) at least a couple more months before I am back in the same situation! xxx

Oh my, I'm not a matching person! I get my dishes from yardsales and thrift stores, anything that is really special and that I like. I do have a set of 5 big shallow bowls, more like plates with high sides, that I bought recently and they have beautiful flowers in them. The picture I took makes the colors look washed out but they're very pretty.
I found some lovely little white bowls with gold trim at the thrift store, perfect for ice cream. I just buy whatever takes my fancy.
I've always wanted a nice set of china, maybe one day I'll get some but I do enjoy my variety of dishes!

i have four children and i have the same style of plates but different colors. my favorite color is yellow so i have a yellow plate, my children likes blue, purple, green and pink so whatever color they like then that it the color of their plate. the bowls does not match with the plates. when it comes to mugs for coffee or hot milk they choose their own mugs.

A few of them are like this.. But, the rest is non matching..

Everyone has their own priorities and tastes. I haven't had matching ANYTHING since I was a newlywed. LOL I do have plates that match, but only because I get the solid white Correlle dishes, and add one here and there. But, again, I have about 8 dessert plates and 4 dinner plates. (It fits my needs.)

Some people care about the way the table looks, while others simply want 'practical'. I care about looks, but only to a point. After having kids, especially boys, I learned to use what was available.
