Barack Obama left Jeremiah Wright's Church today-- did he leave Wright though?

I think Obamoronic agrees with Rev. Wrong, but do to political reasons he Baracky needs to seperate himself from his "Friend". Some friend Baracky must be, willing to throw your friend, for twenty years, under the bus just to win an election. This is the guy who chunked his "Racist" grandmother under the bus, so watch out to everyone who is close to Obamoronic. Watch out Michelle my belle you could be next. If she keeps opening up her mouth and hurting his chances to win, goodbye. Baracky is just as anti-American as Rev. Wrong and his wify, and his nutty supporters are too. Leaving his church neither helps nor hurts his cause with Dembocrats. Yes it should hurt in the general election, but only if McCainy grows a set and goes after the Obamoronic.

I think Obama used Wright to get where he is, and then turned his back on him when his poitics became a liability. Some what like Newt Gingrich did to Bush Sr. with his tax increase, at times you have to make a decision as to what you stand for, even if that means breaking ties with someone that has helped you. Tell me that you haven't stopped talking to someone in your past, because you have changed, and their views or lifestyle doesn't fit with yours? We all have, it is just that we aren't running for office.

First..I have gone to churches in the past, but when it didn't feel right, I NEVER wrote a resignation letter. I just didn't go back.
The letter was for publication and for political news purposes and, I don't feel, sincere. Another act of feeling "entitled" and more important shown by Obama. Anyone else just wouldn't have returned and left it at that.
But is he still having the guy over as a friend to the house and for Sunday dinner? Probably. You do NOT go to a church and have Sunday dinners/watch ball agmes, BBQing, etc..without knowing the guy's views and agreeing with them. Obama agreed with Wright, or he wouldn't have hung out with him all these years. If he feels comfortable wiht Wright..he SHOULD be his friend and at least stand up for his friend and not toss the guy under a bus. Obama canot yet stand up for his own beliefs. How can he lead a nation?
Yet, he doesn't have enough of a "pair" to stand up for his friend and say "This is my friend and take it or leave it."
I don't think this guy is ready for the presidency. It isn't color. Colin Powell would be great and he's honourable. It's..immaturity and lies.
Obama may make a great JUNIOR senator? That doesn't mean a great president. You do not "diss" your white mom, your white grandparents who put your butt through good private schools and step on the head of your friends to gain power. You do not down-talk your black dad and distance form them. Obama has some real growing up to do before he understands to responsibility that goes with having the power! (My grandpa always reminded us.."With freedom comes responsibility! But, Family FIRST!" Obama is NOT ready yet. He may be in a few years? For now, he needs more time to grow as a human being!)
Obama neds to figure out how to be better with family and friends before he can do more. His behaviour is dishonorable!9Needs to straighten out his personal life first, and get his head on straight there, before thinking of leading a nation.)

If I attend a church with my family and don't agree with some of the things the pastor says, especially if it is the same thing said in most churches of my race, I may stay there. However, if I start running for president and my opponents decide that everything being said in that church represents me, I may break away from the church.

What most people, especially people who don't understand the history and functions of a black church assume that Rev. Wright is the only black preacher in America who touches on the issue of race from time to time. Many black preachers, especially those who lived through the civil rights movement, saw racism in play. And, in the same way that most white people are refusing to forgive Obama for the racist comments made in his church, most of these old-timer preachers in black churches are not forgiving white people for the lynchings and many other crimes perpetrated against black people in those days. However, most of the younger people in these churches, though they may not agree with those sentiments because they didn't witness these racial atrocities continue to go to church to meet friends and family and to fellowship in community building and share the word of God, disregarding sermons they don't agree with. Anybody who has been to church before knows that it is just not possible to agree with all your pastor says.

Some people seem to think a church is a sort of club where identically-minded people get together. I have attended predominately white churches most of my life, but for two years I went to a church where my family were the only white faces in a sea of black. I like black-led churches because, unlike most white churches, they don't merely concentrate on personal sin, they also address institutionalized sin.

More importantly, I have never attended a church, white, black, or otherwise, where I agreed with everything said from the pulpit. Those kinds of disagreements should be an invitation to engage with others in the church. Read the book of Acts, or the letters of Paul, and you'll find some real knock-down, drag-out fights over a variety of issues.

That is the Biblical example of what a church is. You don't slip out the back door just because someone said something you don't agree with. Over the years, I've developed some very strong relationships with people that are completely opposite of me on the politcal front.

This is a non-issue, in my opinion.
