I am not talking about your cellphones here because all cellphones are cordless phones. For the phone(s) in your house, do you get cordless ones or those with cords leading to the socket?

For me, I think the technology for cordless phone still doesn't cut. I have tried many brands and models of cordless phones but they tend to not work too well after some time. It is either that the reception becomes bad or the battery dies too soon. And we don't even have a habit of tossing the phone around.:P

Nevertheless, we still make do with a cordless set in the living room. But for the phone in my own room, I have a "corded" one. It is quite inconvenient but if I really want to c-h-a-t, I want to be able to hear the other party loud and clear. I also want to have the freedom to chat for 10 straight hours without needing to charge any battery.

What about you? Do you use cordless or "corded" phones at phone? Any experience to share? Or are you solely relying on cellphones and do not have any phone in the house?

Cordless phones, to me, are a great thing! I remember growing up and all we had was a wall mounted one and so if your wanted to talk you really couldn't go very far! Or you had to put it down and then come back. You're right about the battery. With our phone, I have to make sure it is plugged in (on the stand) every night or else it will be worthless in the morning.

Is there any brand you would recommend? I need to replace this one! The reception is really getting bad...almost as bad and the battery!

Yes, they are a great invention! I just feel though that they are still somewhat lacking. I remember the days when we were so excited that a phone can be cordless - we kept testing how far OUTSIDE the phone we can still use the cordless phone. rasp

there's good and bad about something.

i use corded telephone.
good: i won't lose or forget to put it back
bad: limited range of the cord.

IF i use cordless phone,
good: i go anywhere and talk on it
bad: may misplace it and have to keep charging it and changing the battery.

if i have to choose, i would choose the corded one. haha.

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

The limited range of cord is the biggest drawback.

myLot reputation of 31/100. kellyclarkson244 (158)   ranked 14,468 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

yup i know but u can buy the extension for the wire that u plug in your phone line thingy. the one on the wall. if you know what i mean.
My house is a five room flat so i got 4 phone in the house so i can answer whereever i'm at. haha.

the one i'm talking about is the one in the kitchen. the wire can be strecth to the hall/front door.

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

Yes we can extend it but... I find long cables real ugly. blink rasp

Hi

I used to have cordless phones before and I never found it useful irrespective of their brand. It will be worse when they got an extension. I think corded phone is much better. Now I am using a corded phone, which is very good and I am using the same instrument for the past three years and still it is as clear as when it was new.

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

Indeed, that is why I have a corded phone for my own room. lol

I dont use cordless phones. We used the corded phones. I think its the best so far.

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

Yup. If you don't mind the wire or don't mind standing there for some time or seldom have long calls, I would say go for the corded ones. happy

I have two cordless phones - cos I talk a lot on the phone rasp and like this if one battery dies I hook over to the other phone rasp. I prefer the cordless because I can get on with other things at the same time and I don't have to be restricted to staying in one spot. Very often just before I do the washing-up I call a friends and we chat while I'm doing the dishes - multi-tasking is not only confined to the computer lol

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

Be careful of the neck though. When we do things while on the phone, chances are we have to support the phone in an awkward manner. I always find it uncomfortable. sad rasp

dear lordwarwizard I fully agree with your views. In my residence I am having both types of phone i.e. fixed line and cordless. To use cordless is very convenient and you can maintain your privacy so that no one can listen to your chat. But I have experienced the demerits of cordless phone i.e. poor reception, battery life is less. Though I prefer cordless phone irrespective of difficulties.

I have a cordless phone and I love it. I also have a cell phone also so I can text my husband when he is away from home if we need to speak to one another about something. I hate talking on the phone though. I mainly have my phones in case of an emergency or because I have lovely dialup internet service and have to have one. I also use it in case I have to call a plce of business or something like that also.

We have a cordless phone. I think it works just fine. We did have to replace it once, but that's fine with me. The advantages greatly overshadow the disadvantages to me. A few hours is long enough time to chat. Good pacing-help there if one gets tempted.

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago

If you use the phone as long as some in my family use it, you might have replaced it more than once already. lol rasp

I never touch the phone with the cord nowadays. It ropes me top a place and restrict my movements for sipping my coffee, writing a note or scratching any itchy part. And I hate it more because the cord gets in to knots and never is in its original neat shape. So I have cordless phones in my home.It has an extra use of reaching for that itchy part with its antennae too. lol

Oh please do not talk to me about cordless phones, I do not know what it is but we have no luck with them whatsoever. The first one we bought was ace, it did so much stuff and we had invested a little more money in it than I would have liked, but it was well worth it.

That ended up in a cup of orange courtesy of my nephew who had spotted it while I was not looking. So we then went back to the old phone but it was horrible not being able to walk around the house while gassbagging to my Mum, and I am on the phone for a good hour or more to my Mum so it was hard being stuck in one place.

We saved up and bought a new cordless one, this one was not expensive and was also on sale so we were pleased with our bargain. Only this phone seems to be haunted, it is always ringing and no one is ever there, it dials numbers up on its own, it beeps at you and the recent one is it will ring and there is no one there and then when you put it down and try and use it a little while later it gives an engaged tone and will not let us dial out! So once again we have reverted back to the old faithful and it is working perfectly! Best of all it is quiet again and no ringing every couple of hours.

I have both in my house. I have a cordless when I need to talk and do something else at the same time and I have a wall phone for when I want to talk for and extended amount of time. I really prefer the cordless because it gives me more freedom and also it is a good excuse to get off the phone if the battery begins to go down.

myLot reputation of 95/100. lordwarwizard (9104)   ranked 254 out of 25,753 in life  3 months ago
