Holding Hands while driving..

Perhaps it upsets her that she does not have someone to hold hands with like that. You didn't say weather or not she was married or in a relationship. Maybe it just makes her think about what she is missing.

My fiance and I hold hands all the time while driving. He loves to actually and is usually the first one to do so. He also like to pull me close to him and have his arm around my neck. Those times are for when we first see eachother from being apart for several months. I honestly couldn't tell you why your mother in law is jealous of this. I think it might be that he is showing affection and maybe her husband never did this.

It is so common a gesture in today's world that I'm surprised to know that your mother-in-law takes note of this trivial matter even at this time. I think she is reacting a little too much in your entirely private matters.

Maybe she's not jealous; maybe she just has nothing better to look at. Maybe she was contemplating how much her son likes you or something not unpleasant. You could always ask.:)

I agree with the first response from reading all that you have said about her i think may be she just feels left ou and alone with out husband being around a lot.

strange isn't it? my mother in law tends to be the same way. she always is trying to get my husband to come do things for them but never invites me and his 3 kids. i feel like its always me against her for my husband attention. they always are asking him to do things for them when his 20 year old brother still lives at home and could be doing it. she seems to get weird around me when we are happy. but i swear if we argue in front of her she looks happy about it. and if i'm not being overly paranoid, i'd almost swear she has done stuff to cause a fight between us. others have told me they think it seems like that too.

Perhaps she just finds it inappropriate. Sometimes older people are just that way.

Because she probably never had that from her husband, and she's wondering how her son could be so opposite of her husband. She's also aware that you are the one he wants to be close to and she's not ready to let go, sons and mothers have a strange relationship, he's your husband, make him feel like your the only woman in his life. Mom's have to let go, its not healthy to hold on too long.

i think your mother-in-law has been very jealous of you for so many times. with the reasons that i can't really understand. based on the discussions you post about your mother-in-law. maybe she still jealous because she thinks you took away her son. or she may be jealous of you coz she never had the chance to experience with her husband the kind of treatment from your husband. i can't just figure her out at all.
