What may be the reason? |
|
Just now I received a telephone call from my brother who lives at a place near Kolkata. He told me that one boy was killed as his cell phone exploded during lightening. This fellow was keeping his cell phone in his shirt pocket. This place has several copper mines. Rainy season has started and all of a sudden, usually there is lightening, that lasts for 4-5 minutes, may be due to the copper ore below. Last year in my city another cell phone exploded while the user was playing game in it. There was no lightening at all. So what might be the reason? Are you aware of some thing similar happening at your place? I am scared, the cell phone is a live bomb then!!! Where do you keep your cell phone while driving or walking on the road. I usually keep this in my shirt pocket. Please share your views.

2. kamran12 (1811) | 3 months ago | Hello bhubaneshwars!:-) Most of the 'real' cases of cell phone explosions that I have read were because of either over-charging of the battery or its over-heating. Also, mostly the batteries being used were counterfeit batteries not the original ones. Although it's said that original ones can go wrong too but there is a very rare chance. Where I keep cellphone depends mainly on season. In winter, I keep it in my jacket's pocket and in summer in my jean's pocket. Sometimes, though, I keep it in my shoulder bag. I would wish everybody safety and well being!:-)

3. RLFinNash (5712) | 3 months ago | hello bhubaneshwars wow! i do not guess that i have ever heard of somebody's cell phone exploding like that for no apparent reason. and i guess that it is not safe then to be talking on your cell phone when it is storming outside? and to answer your question about where do i keep my cell phone while i am driving or out walking somewhere? my Mom got me the cutest purse for my birthday present last year, and on each side of the purse, it has small pockets on it, and my cell phone fits right down into the side pocket on my purse. lol and on the other side in the other pocket i carry a mini flashlight in case that i need to see something in the dark. lol i have gotten lots of compliments on my purse. have a beautiful afternoon.

5. derek_a (2647) | 3 months ago | This sounds a little worrying, but I take solace from the fact that there are many millions of cell phones in the world and we are not hearing about too many explosions. I usually keep my cell phone in my shirt pocket also, or my jacket pocket in the winter.

6. Remembering1996 (1503) | 3 months ago | I don't have a cell phone but have alot of friends that do and I haven't heard of this cell phone exploding thing ever this is the first time. All I can say is that is some scary stuff and I will have to ask my friends on this one for I don't know. I hope this never happens to any of them. The only thing I can come up with is the phone over heating or the batteries being bad. I hope everyone w/ cell phones take extra caution and keep safe.

8. longbangod (1080) | 3 months ago | Maybe this is a rare case. I never heard about a mobile phone that just exploded without any reason. Though I watch a news few months back about a mobile phone which exploded while it was charged. The reason might be overcharged or the battery is an immitation or the phone itself. And that was the only news I heard about a mobile phone that explode. I carry my mobile phone with me whereever I go. Though I am also aware that its not good to use it when you are at the gas station so I see to it that it is off when I am within the vicinity of a gas station. Just to be safe.

9. mummymo (10399) | 3 months ago | I usually keep my mobile nearby in the house and if I am out I will always keep it in my handbag! There have been a few cases of phones exploding around the world and it is thought that it is something to do with the batteries although I am not sure what exactly causes it! These incidents are few and far between and I guess there are risks with everything electical and electronic! xxx

10. blackbriar (4945) | 3 months ago | Wow! I didn't hear about any of this. My cell is either in my pants/shorts pocket, my car console, or sitting somewhere in the house. Could be the copper combined with moisture (rain) that is doing this.
| |
| |
|
|
bhubaneshwars (1170) | 3 months ago | No Karen, not due to copper combined with moisture. Copper is a very good conductor of electricity, it gets induced and lightening is so frequent at that place. But for the cell phone, may be due to defective battery that overheat or/and the defective cell phone. But lightening do effet the circuitary inside, thanks for the response.
