From Comcast News: Myanmar denies evictions from cyclone relief camps | | Myanmar DENIES evictions from cyclone relief camps? DENIES--Exactly! How is it possible that in this day and age we still have people who are forced to live under a corrupt, selfish, and non-caring government? First they, Myanmar rulers, would not give entry to the U.S. to provide basic necesities to the poor people of Myanmar--they stalled and stalled so much that the lives of 134,000 or maybe more were lost and another 2.4 million were destitute and at risk of desease, hunger, and ultimately death... Today is June 9, exactly 38 days since the cyclone hit and still there are persons that have not received any aid and are literally dying. Thein Sein, is quoted saying: Government will provide for basic needs to a certain degree, survivors will receive food rations and farming equipment--what a bunch of manure--if that so called government was really concerned about its people, any aid offered would have been accepted immediately. Most likely 100s if not 1000s would have been taken care of and not put at risk of desease and/or death. Although we as a nation do have our own problems, how can we stand by and let these military dictators do these people the way they do...To a degree we can compare Thein Sein to Hitler!! What do myLotters think? ~G~

No country can force it's way in there, they have a legitimate government, and to try to over throw that government would cause a huge backlash for whichever country tried. Look at how many people hate the U.S. for helping people who were being invaded and asked for help. The world community can put pressure on the Myanmar government to do what is right but that's about all that can be done for now.

gwoman2 (193) | 3 months ago | Hi Spalladino, you are 110% correct and it is such a pity. Sometimes I feel like I am not doing enough to better our world...I feel helpless and it is so depressing. Aren't there international/national laws in place to protect these poor people? What is the United Nations for? I am just one little Social Service person and I do all I can for my community, still, I don't feel that I do near enough...oh my, what to do, what to do? Thanks for responding Spalladino, Stay cool, stay well, ~G~
