Is this barebone kit good for the price? | | Hi, I want to build myself a computer that will be used mainly for downloading and surfing the web, as well as burning DVD's and games. Is this a good one, and what can be added to it? - Intel D945GCPE motherboard - Intel Dual Core E2180 2.0GHZ Processor - 1024 MB of Crucial PC5400 DDR2 memory - Western Digital 160gb hard drive - Power Up ATX mid tower with Famous Brand 400 Watts power supply. Thanks in advance!

I would add a good graphics card, sound card, DVD burner, another gig of RAM, probably a fan or two and maybe an extra hard drive. Unless you are a really intense gamer you don't need more than that. I was going to build one for myself, but with the way the prices are a will buy a pre-built. By the time I buy all the parts is iut cheaper for what I want and then I have a warranty if there is a problem. Good luck.

Depending whether you have one or not thats 100 bucks down the drain. You also need an OS. If your going to be cheap and use Linux fine by me, but Vista is some crazy price like 200, I dunno. XP runs for around 100 bucks. Then... the glory of all gaming pc's, the graphics card. If your going to be playing any recent game at all such as COD4, Bioshock, BF2, CSS... your graphics card is over 100 bucks for sure. If your going to be playing more graphics intensive games, Crysis, Gears of War, Assassins Creed... your graphics is going to be around 250 bucks. I recommend 8800 GTX or GTS. The GeForce 9 series isn't that great. Uh... otherwise from that I guess its ok. I'm to lazy to check compatibility, but watch out for that.

Baltek (186) | 4 months ago | I have a monitor, only thing I guess I would need is the graphic card, and a good DVD burner. As for the OS, I heard you can get cheap not legit ones for under 25$ with cd key.

But old or new games,i really think you should buy a bigger hard drive. It's not that expensive. I think, for the price,it's a good rig.
