1. moneymint18 (388) | 5 months ago | Hi gameswonderer, If you look at costwise amd is cheaper and better. but same time if you look at performance Intel is the best. I am using my desktop of AMD from alst 5 years i know the problems. for heavy load and project work Intel is the best thats all my experiences says.

2. Insung001 (550) | 5 months ago | amd is cheaper. Now that would be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the user's mind. Some would think it is not good, that's why it costs less. They would prefer intel because of..name. Others who knew more about processors would say amd is better because it's low cost for the same function. For me, they are just like Pepsi and Coke. Different brands, but the same. Intel has the "name" advantage though.

3. blackmantra_x (2248) | 5 months ago | good day. I choose intel specially in my laptop. true intel cost more but when it comes to performance, durability and maintenance, these factors outweigh the cost. Compared with AMD, which is a lot cheaper but can overheat pretty easily. In desktop this can be remedied by using more powerful heatsink fans but in laptop that's gonna be a problem. I've seen a lot of AMD laptops regardless of brands that overheated and result to board or processor damage. In the long run intel outperforms AMD.

5. SalocinTEN (17) | 5 months ago | Well, AMD processors are cheap, but they can't really handle super heavy loads. They operate much cooler and at a lower power consumption too. How DreamWorks did their blockbuster masterpieces with their HP AMD servers? I don't know. Intel processors are costly, but handle large computing tasks more reliably. They are most suitable for programming tasks. So it all depends on what you wish to use your computer for. If you want just games, go with AMD. If you deal with 3D Max, AutoCAD, or Visual Studio, go with Intel. The things to really invest in are RAM "sticks" and an excellent graphics card (though I don't fancy the giant fan on some of them). Hope this really helped a bit.:)

| gameswonderer (92) | 5 months ago | yes it did man tnx a lot I gues I should go for an intel then cause my pc runs for at least 18 hours per day including 2 hours of my father working on autocad usually:P Do you think a pc with intel pentium duo 2.4 ghz with 4gb ram and an 512 mb graphics card all running on an motherboard at 1220mhz will be ok? (I am going to use xp not vista)

| SalocinTEN (17) | 5 months ago | No worries. Wow, running XP. Yeah. A Dual Core should be good, though I got a few quirks when one processor crashes, so you get like a half Windows.

9. saundyl (2341) | 5 months ago | From a repair stand point We have more failed Intel processors come in that AMD when an AMD comes in failed its usually such an old system you can not get a replacement motherboard OR PROCESSOR for that system. We have Intel processors come in regularly that are less than a year old and have failed. This could be because AMD's are better or it could be because more people have Intel processors in their systems. I find though we have more and more people requesting systems with AMD processors in and telling us they wouldn't touch Intel with a sharp pointy stick. The above leads me to say...My personal preference is AMD. I have both an AMD and a Intel processor and I find my system with the AMD processor in works so much faster. Its the same speed processor, same ram same size hard drives just different brands of processors. I am aware that reading other forums and pc magazines that which ever one is preferred or better for speed and quality tends to change with new technology.

| gameswonderer (92) | 5 months ago | tnx for this responce saundyl really healpfull I guess I have to reconsider my point of view cause I had come to believe that intel really overpowered amd in quality and performance

saundyl (2341) | 5 months ago | I think a lot of it is personal opinion. Kind of like asking someone which is better a Chev or a Dodge. You'll get people who love them, people who hate them and people who just don't care as long as it runs.
