A little of hat you fancy does you good?

Red wine may be the next best thing to the fabled elixir of youth, new research suggests.

A compound in the skin of red grapes has been found to curb the effects of ageing, evenm when taken in tiny doses.

Scientists believe the discovery, made in mice, may explain the so-called 'French Paradox'.

Experts have long been puzzled over the fact that people in regions of France where food is soaked in saturated fat have astonishingly healthy hearts and arteries.

Plant chemicals in red ine, which often accompanies French meals, have been suggested as a possible explanation.

The new study highlights one compound, resveratrol, which is known to have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties.

It's long been said that red wine, taken in moderation, is good for you but now there seems to be scientific basis for this theory. What's your opinion? Do you drink red ine, and do you think it's good for you, in moderation?

To be honest with you, I am of the mind that a little of most things in moderation are good for you. I hate avoiding things because a new research says it is bad for me, not having something sometimes gets me down, and if I am down then how am I going to live a long life!

I am not much for red wine, it is so rich and it gives me heartburn really bad. Mind you there again so does white wine and so I very rarely drink it. I have been bought a bottle of white for my birthday too so I may just throw caution to the wind and have a glass tomorrow night!

Where I spend time in Portugal, restaurants serve the locally made red wine in jugs with each meal. There must be something in it, as all the oldies can work me into the ground, and I'm half their age!

I'm no red wine buff myself. I pop a bit of 7up in it, so you can tell I have no real appreciation!

I think there is some truth to that in as long as red wine is taken into moderation. Anything taken in large quanities isn't good for anyone.

I love red wine, though have to be careful how much I drink due to the fact I have a rather strange allergy to grapes (and many other foods, though not life threatening).

I've actually just tonight (now 3:30am here) signed on for a special home delivered wine club. It will have red and white wines, but both are good. The reason for accepting the offer this company made was because it is convenient as they deliver the wine to our door about every 3 months.

I actually have more experience in caring for grape vines than i do in drinking wine (now that is sad!) but have always known that red wine has good benefits for health.

Now, I'm not a big drinker, a bottle of wine would do us for a couple of days, so I think we come under the title of overly moderate drinkers, but money is tight and I don't always have time to duck out just for a bottle of wine. I think the way we drink is healthy, and for us, it is a special treat to have a glass of wine with dinner.

Not a big drinker here by any means, but I quite like a glass of wine,I much prefer a crisp white wine, preferably dry,I find the red a little bit heavy for me.I think that red is a much accquired taste!Im sure in moderation it does you no harm,as the alchohol relaxes you slightly.
