When my computer crashed I lost Microsoft Office Word |
|
So when I downloaded the AVAST antivirus into my computer I lost everything including my Microsoft Word..which I need because I write for a living. I do have Microsoft Works which is like Word.. but I can't open any of my old stuff now that I have saved on my flash drive because I don't have Word. Now my trouble is that I no longer have Microsoft Word or any of the Microsoft Office. The numbers that came with the computer don't fit the registration numbers of Microsoft Office Word and I can't get my Word back. I will have to go buy a CD and install Microsoft Office Word back into my computer. When I got the computer from Radio Shack the guy there put MS Office on the computer for me so I didn't have to register it.. now if I take it back they will charge me an arm and a leg to put it back on.. so what can I do? How much do the CD's cost.. I think they are about $300 to buy one.. and they have to be registered... when I tried to get the MS Word to open it had to be registered with the right numbers and the numbers that came with my computer are not the correct key. So do you have any suggestions? Has this ever happened to you?

OreoCookie3 (15153) | 7 months ago | I never heard of that Jason. Thanks for telling me. That would be good if I could access my saved files on my flash drive that are in word. Thanks.

OreoCookie3 (15153) | 5 months ago | I'm using it now.. but my work can't be read by my boss, when I send it to her she can't open it because it isn't compatible with her Word files. I have to transfer everything into Wordpad and then send it to her.. which works out fine. Sometimes Open office is a pain too.. because I will lose it.. but one good thing it will recover files for you that you haven't saved yet... so that is good.

2. pyewacket (9140) | 7 months ago | Geez...are you sure that AVAST anti-virus didn't have a virus...LOL. I mean it does seem strange that it wasn't until you downloaded that, that your computer crashed. I did a basic google search...there's a whole bunch of things there..even a "free" 60 day trial that you can click to...then another one can download Word for only $11.00 or something...don't know how reliable that would be http://www.google.com/sea... I do know Microsoft word is expensive...they have a Mac version of it and it's about $300 which is why I never bothered getting it, but just rely on my "Pages" and Text Edit that came with my computer.

3. elemental69 (881) | 7 months ago | Oh my, I am glad you started this discussion. Its made me realise that I will have to back up my MS word..... I depend on it too. The Word CD shouldnt cost that much, they retail here for €30 which is about $46.

OreoCookie3 (15153) | 7 months ago | Wow! I've seen the Microsoft Office packages with Excel and Word and Powerpoint and all for over $300.. you mean you can just buy Word by itself for that much? I haven't seen that here. I'm going to check with radio shack and see what I can find. Someone said to download this free version of something and I started to and then I got a warning that it could contain a virus so I aborted that.. I will just get a CD to download into my computer somehow.

4. tyc415 (3783) | 7 months ago | How long ago did you get your computer? If it hasn't been a really long time call Radio Shack and tell them what happened, maybe they put the registration number in the computer. I know they always put every other information they can about us in the computer system there. haha

OreoCookie3 (15153) | 7 months ago | My computer is over a year old Tyc.. I would have to bring the computer in and I have work to do starting tomorrow.. I will have to use Microsoft Works for it.. and it isn't compatible with word.. because I can't open a Word document into a Works program. Hopefully my boss has a Works program also.

8. money_maker01 (659) | 7 months ago | Hi oreocookie3, relax, don't panic. I have a solution for you. Do you remember when you download the AVAST antivirus? That's really important. Because of that date you could fix every single thing of your computer problem. The secret is by restoring your computer. If you still couldn't remember, well just try this way. Open 'start' choose "accessories" choose "system tool" choose "system restore". When you are in the "system restore" there will be 3 options that could be made. Choose "restore my computer to an earlier time" click "next". You'll see "select a restore point". You'll see a calender date list. You also will see bold date list. If you do remember when you install the AVAST that's good. Just click on the bold date (the date before you install AVAST). If you don't remember on the date, just click on those bold date to check when you install the AVAST. You could find it there. When you find it, just pick the day before you install AVAST. The best day is a day before you install it. Why? It's because we want to make sure the other programs that installed by you are not going to be deleted as well as AVAST. This is an example if you install AVAST on June 12 and you install MS Word on June 9. So if you choose the bold date to be June 8, so you'll loose the MS Word as well because the computer assume that June 8 you still not install the MS Word. I know you need some good anti virus program. My recommendation is you must use AVIRA ANTIVIR and for some malware you must install AVG anti spyware a.k.a AVGAS. So if you need some guidance, just pm me, I'll be glad to assist you.
