3. jcj_111776 (1066) | 7 months ago | I did with my son. But he will only suck on it for a few minutes, then he'll try to put it out of his mouth. In the end, I gave up on letting him the pacifier. It wasn't effective for him.

4. spyjob (157) | 7 months ago | Pacifier is the most stupid thing invented for a baby. The baby gain nothing but a stomachache which I don't know if mothers realized this. My pedia doesn't recommend this and can't imagine why this thing is popular in the market. The stomach keeps on digesting for nothing but a saliva and air then followed by gas pain. We parents should be aware of the things we gave to our children and not just follow the trend.

Gemmygirl1 (2628) | 7 months ago | I have to disagree here - babies will suck on a dummy/pacifier for comfort & even relief when they're teething. My daughter had a hard time with teething & the pacifier helped her a lot - as she was able to gnaw at it, which relieved her gums a lot & allowed her to sleep. Chew rings & stuff are fine except they cant hold them & gnaw on them while asleep or trying to fall asleep. They're popular coz they can sooth baby to sleep & give them comfort. As long as you pick the right one there's nothing wrong with them. Maybe different people & different cultures just believe in different things but my pediatrician was fine with my daughter having one since it soothed her gums & allowed her to sleep.

6. thelastwolf113 (2489) | 7 months ago | My son didn't like it either. When I tried to give it to him, he just pushed it out of his mouth. He never sucked his thumb or used anything else in place of a pacifier.

| cheri_janine (62) | 7 months ago | May be I guess because of the taste of the rubber.Because I tried to suck too to experience and taste it. And even me I don't like to the taste of rubber may be that's why my daughter don't like it too.

| 8. lennonluvers (4) | 7 months ago | I used one, when needed for my boys. I do suggest, if you dont want them to have it when they are older, take it away before they can ask for it. I took it away at about 8 months and he never missed it after that.

bombshell (3333) | 7 months ago | and comments to others who made negative about pacifier, well my little one is using pacifier since birth and so far she has no problem with the tummy, the teeth and most of it the pronunciaction, she has 3 names and under 2 yrs old she can pronouce her name properly.so why is that other kids are not using pacifier and and cannot prononuce properly and still bad teeth and looks funny on thier mouth why is that?dont blame the pacifier about it.

9. Essie119 (583) | 7 months ago | All babies are different, even within the same family. My oldest son liked his soother and had it until he turned two. He has excellent speaking skills and it wasn't difficult to take it from him. (Well adjusted little dude!) My daughter wanted nothing to do with a pacifier. When she needed to satisfy her sucking reflex she would suck on my index finger. My new baby doesn't seem to want one either - he's usually a good tempered baby, but like my daughter, when he needs to suck he wants my finger rather than a soother. Of course, he'd rather have my nipple, but you can only feed them so many hours of the day. LOL

10. SangsTurks (502) | 7 months ago | No i do not like the use of pacifiers for my child. one should void pacifiers especially the gel/liquid filled ones as they can leach out at times. And perhaps like you said they they pack air in thrie tummy. This happens because what they basicaly are doing is sucking air while sucking the pacifier!
