Has your home ever been hit by a hurricane, wild fire or other natural disaster?

I grew up on the east coast of the United States and in Bermuda so I have seen my fair share of hurricanes. If we weren't getting hit by one then we were sitting through warnings and watches. I have been displaced quite a few times due to damage from the hurricanes to our homes. We have also been without power for bouts on end, two weeks was our worst one. That one was terrible as it was in the middle of the hottest month in Virginia.

We have been lucky to not have endured more damage than we did. We were, at most, moved out of our home for minor repairs. I feel for all of these people in the face of natural disasters and hold all of them in my prayers.

Oh yes it is could be divastting and hope nobody has to ever go throug it. no where i live we have had no natarul disasters, and hope never to.

I lived in the Mid-West all my life and never experienced a tornado.

But, when I moved to DC, a week after moving, the remains of hurricane Charlie came up to us and caused a micro-burst at own apartment complex. The place was brick, so there was very little damage, but parts of the roof were torn off, metal shingles everywhere. Trees in along the nature trail had bullets lodged in them from the Civil War were torn from the ground and replaced a few inches away. A war fort used as a teaching archelogical dig site was destoryed (it was part of the nature area) and the creek that was runoff from the Potomoc River was dammed by the falling trees and flooded the area. It was cleaned up in a matter of days, but it was really scary.

I have been through tornados, hurricanes and earthquakes.

We have wildfires north of here but I've never been through that situation.

These are are tragic events but are acts of God.

we have a lot risk of a earthquake in the country that I live, we are always getting small earthquakes and it is a little scare because once one small town near of here got totally destroyed from a strong earthquake, even a few week ago there was one and it when the epicenter was far away, it felt really strong, It was a almost midnight and I was sitting working in my computer when it started to move really hard and the walls started to do strange sounds like there were to break down, I thought about to left running but I don't know why I was not able I think if the house have collapsed I would have died because I just kept sitting and I didn't run away.

We don't get hurricanes where I live so we never have to worry about it, and I am glad that we have never to have to be evacuated for floods or for wildfires near of the house, but sometimes we have storms and it rain really hard but with not risk of floods.

Here in my town.We have had wild fires where I use to live. The whole part wasa evacuated. I was babysitting a friend of mine's little girl. I rode with another neighbor to meat my mom at th startof the road. She had been stopped from going to get me and my friends little girl who was 3 at the time. We also get hurricane,thunderstorms and turnados here. That is sad about the floods that you have written about. I was lucky that the place I was living at was alright once the fires got stopped in the woods.

Yep i've lived through a few hurricanes. One wasn't so bad and didn't really hit us head on but the other one hurricane gloria did. I remember it so well it was such a mess we had branches all over our yard. We were even worried about the huge tree in our front yard coming down it was getting blown so hard. We had no power for like two weeks. It was completely awful.

TO BQ:
China is my nation.she has beautiful senses and rich resources but also she is a nation with nature disasters frenquency.
Nearly every nature disasters happened in human history may duplicate to china.
At May 12th,in sichuan,china,we came across 8.2 level earthquake with about 69159 victimes and 370,000 injured.
Though i didn't saw one of big disasters with my own eyes,i will pray these disasters never happen again.

I'm in Pennsylvania so compared to some other places we have it pretty lucky here. We don't have hurricanes, tornadoes aren't nearly as common as in the midwest and earthquakes are pretty much unheard of here. The biggest disasters we usually get are floods and we do get enough of them! I'm not in a flood area but I'm surrounded by them so I know many people who have lost everything more than once. My heart goes out to anyone who has been faced with any kind of natural disasters such as we seem to get on a daily basis these days.

Thank God, no. This country that I live in is very blessed when it comes to natural disasters. In fact, we don't have disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, storms, volcanic eruptions and droughts. Being so small, we wouldn't survive if we have these. The most we have are heavy rains and winds, and very hot temperatures at certain times of the year. My heart really goes out to those countries which are often inflicted by such natural disasters, where many people either perish, injured or are made homeless as a result.
