Father's day and this father cooked.

And I was loving it.

I made curried chicken, rice and steamed brocolli.

It started off with me hauling out my cream od chicken soup. I normally add the curry powder to that but I had forgotten that I ran out last time.

My wife found a jar with what we thought was curry. Wrong. It was some spice that sure looked like curry.

So after two trips to the store, I was able to find some authentic Indian curry powder.

I came home and added that to my cream soup base, browned my chicken and tossed it into the oven for a couple hours and served it up for my wife.

When I think about how hot that was, I can hear my father speaking in my mind saying something like, "HOLY OLD SNUFF COLOURED NELLIES!" or one of my favorites, "DIRTY OLD DYING DORA!"

This curry was hot. And only after getting my food down and feeling my lips burn did my darling wife tell me that I was eating with my lips instead of my teeth.
I told her it wouldn't have made any difference, I am a lip licker. Anyway, it was good and spicier than what we are accustomed to.

Dishes were easy tonight too. And it was good that I did dishes because grandson was being....difficult. I was in no mood to deal with him at all.

All in all, a good day though.
