Do you let your kids play in the rain?

My kids have no interest playing in the rain. My husband would probably freak out if they were out in it but I would be OK as long as they were dressed properly. No lightning though!

Since it rains for at least a little while every afternoon here in Florida during our rainy season I encourage my grandsons to play with me in the rain...when there's no lightening. We had some fun in the rain yesterday as a matter of fact. My oldest grandson and his friends were playing on a Slip and Slide type of thing that came with little surf boards that they tried to stand on while sliding across the watery mat.

I dont mind when my son plays out in the rain as long as there isnt any lightning. its florida it rains here while its sunny outside lol.

If they want to play in the rain they can as long as they are dressed properly for the weather i dont see a problem. Being out in the rain with wellies and a rain coat on will not make them sick!

My kids LOVE to play out in the rain LOL they always have too...and they especially love being in the pool in the rain...I'm fine wiht it as long as its not lightening and thundering out AND as long as its warm enough....

I allow my kids to be out in the rain, to play and have a good time. Where I grew up was in the country in a small town, and we always would go outside to watch the thunder/lightning storms, as we all really love them. Since the chances of my child getting hit by lightning is less than their chances of getting hit by a bus, or vehicle, I see no harm in this. When we are done playing in the rain, we all go in strip down into some fresh warm clothes and share a cup of hot chocolate together. It is an awesome time that we spend together. Being out in the rain/thunder/lightning is so much fun!It won't make you sick, as most sicknesses are viral or bacterial,being out in the cool damp weather can only hurt you if you are already sick, or begining to get sick!

If it is storming then no but if it is a gentle rain then they can just go for it. When they were younger it was really fun to watch them play in the rain. They would act so silly. Now they really aren't interested. Darn I wish we could shrink them back down to young ones when they were so fun.

I will sometimes let my son play in the rain as long as it is not storming out. Most of the time though he does not want to go out when it is raining or even for awhile after it stops.

of course! it is fun. but my children are all teens now and they would rather watch tv and drink cocoa when it is raining. when they were younger they love to get wet and always ask permission to run out when it is raining. i too love to run out when it is raining during my younger years.

I am one of the parents who allows their children to play in the rain, as long as it is not a thunderstorm. I do not believe that getting wet or cold is the way a child gets sick, and they have a ton of fun doing it!

However, if there is a risk of danger, such as lightning, my kids stay inside. It never fails to amaze me that parents will allow their children to play in dangerous conditions. You would think that they would be out picking their children up.

So my question is where are their parents?
