Do you let your kids play in the rain? |
Or are you one of those that makes them stay in because they may get sick. I am okay with letting them play in the rain as long as obviously there is no lightning and whatnot. I have been noticing than some of the local teens have been into going to the park and playing BALL when it storms. Makes my hair stand on end when I see them out there shrieking around and the lightning is flashing all around. Didn't their parents teach them better than that??

1. dawnald (3743) | 7 months ago | My kids have no interest playing in the rain. My husband would probably freak out if they were out in it but I would be OK as long as they were dressed properly. No lightning though!

tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | My boy would play out whenever he is allowed. Which I encourage. My daughter isn't old enough to have an opinion. YET!

2. spalladino (4887) | 7 months ago | Since it rains for at least a little while every afternoon here in Florida during our rainy season I encourage my grandsons to play with me in the rain...when there's no lightening. We had some fun in the rain yesterday as a matter of fact. My oldest grandson and his friends were playing on a Slip and Slide type of thing that came with little surf boards that they tried to stand on while sliding across the watery mat.

tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | I can imagine. I have heard that Florida gets the rain about 4-5 pm every day. That is so interesting and one day I hope to be able to see it for myself.

6. proudmammabear (303) | 7 months ago | I allow my kids to be out in the rain, to play and have a good time. Where I grew up was in the country in a small town, and we always would go outside to watch the thunder/lightning storms, as we all really love them. Since the chances of my child getting hit by lightning is less than their chances of getting hit by a bus, or vehicle, I see no harm in this. When we are done playing in the rain, we all go in strip down into some fresh warm clothes and share a cup of hot chocolate together. It is an awesome time that we spend together. Being out in the rain/thunder/lightning is so much fun!It won't make you sick, as most sicknesses are viral or bacterial, being out in the cool damp weather can only hurt you if you are already sick, or begining to get sick! Ty have a great day:)

tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | I will still prefer to not have my kids in the storms. lol. Rain yes, thunder even yes, lightning no. I won't chance my babies even for a 1,000,000,000th of a chance.
| |
proudmammabear (303) | 7 months ago | I understand and respect that for sure. We were just always raised with it as no big deal, even though my dad knew someone who had been hit by lightning not once but twice while on the golf course. I wonder how much we were raised plays a role in whether it is a threat or not?
| |
tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | I remember playing in some storms, but then my parents didn't much care about more than the next drink. lol. I try to do things differently.

7. 1grnthmb (1516) | 7 months ago | If it is storming then no but if it is a gentle rain then they can just go for it. When they were younger it was really fun to watch them play in the rain. They would act so silly. Now they really aren't interested. Darn I wish we could shrink them back down to young ones when they were so fun.

tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | It is funny, we spend so much time wanting them to grow up and hit all those milestones, but when they do, we want to go back again.
| |
1grnthmb (1516) | 7 months ago | That is because they were so much funnier when they were little. Not to mention cuter. And thye that they are teens they have the attitude. I much preferred the innocent, unconditional loving stage.
| |
tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | Heck, mine are 5 and 1, they already have an attitude. However, it is at least punctuated by nice loving moments. If I remember the movies right, them teens are terrible.

8. lilybug (11209) | 7 months ago | I will sometimes let my son play in the rain as long as it is not storming out. Most of the time though he does not want to go out when it is raining or even for awhile after it stops.

9. roniroxas (5000) | 7 months ago | of course! it is fun. but my children are all teens now and they would rather watch tv and drink cocoa when it is raining. when they were younger they love to get wet and always ask permission to run out when it is raining. i too love to run out when it is raining during my younger years.

tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | This sounds like me. I love(d) to curl up with some cocoa (if it were lowcarb anyways) and just take it easy.

10. rantingqueen (389) | 7 months ago | I am one of the parents who allows their children to play in the rain, as long as it is not a thunderstorm. I do not believe that getting wet or cold is the way a child gets sick, and they have a ton of fun doing it! However, if there is a risk of danger, such as lightning, my kids stay inside. It never fails to amaze me that parents will allow their children to play in dangerous conditions. You would think that they would be out picking their children up. So my question is where are their parents?
| |
| |
tanniebabe78 (751) | 7 months ago | Who knows. The kids whom I speak of are pretty old. 17-18 but still, why don't they know any better? They just shriek and laugh about the lightning forking down around them. Scares the crap out of me that is for sure.
