If you were certain a family member or relative committed a serious crime...

I've actually thought of this before and it's a tough choice, especially when it involves a family member you're close to or depend on. I would say that if it were something serious like murder or aggravated assault, then, yes, I would turn them in. In the very least, I would distance myself from them because if you know about such crimes and don't do anything about it, you can be considered an accessory by the authorities. I hope I never have to turn a relative in for anything no matter how big or small a crime.

I think that it would depend on the severity of the offense. If I knew that a family member or friends had robbed a bank or killed someone than I would turn them in because I do not want to be held accountable or charged as an accomplice because I knew and chose not to say anything. If the offense was something minor then I would probably just strongly encourage them to turn themselves in or fess up but I would not do it myself. I like to think that all of my family members are somewhat rational and will never put me in this situation.

I would turn them in! I would feel guilty if I knew they did something really bad and I didn't say anything and they got away with it.

If I knew that someone committed a serious crime I would feel that the right thing to do would be to turn them in, regardless of who they were, or how I was related to them.

It's sinful, I know. But it would depend on the crime. I would not protect anyone that commited a violent crime.

Absolutely! It wouldn't matter what crime but if I were going to tell I'd make very certain that I was correct in the knowledge I believed I had because after all, if I was wrong and turned in family for something they didn't do, what repercussions there would be!

Depends on the offence,if he pickpocket someone or stole a Mars candy bar,i'll keep quiet.
But if he killed someone or did anything serious,i WILL turn him in.

My relatives, husband, children are VERY clear on this. If I find out they have committed a crime, I WILL turn them in. No ifs, ands or buts!
They have not done so, because they know I play NO games on this. There are laws to prevent chaos. If we do not like them, then we have the right to fight to legally change the laws we disagree with? But until the law is changed..we do NOT have the right to break it. (Laws are what seperate us from the animals!)
