why sons and daughters are not treated equally

I am an indian in india a daughter is considered as a burden by many parents,the main reason is they have to pay dowry to get her married .Sons on the other hand are considered as the light of the family and his birth is celebrated with great joy .But in my family i have not faced any discrimination because i was born a girl .i have a son and a daughter and i dote on them equally .

but you are too young, and you may be not so powerful, as to confront the whole country. but don't give up! you should make yourself stronger, as time goes by, there'll be more and more people have the same opinion as you, just do your best to influence the others.

do your great effert, you'll be great! fight againest the foolish prejudice, fight for freedom!

I don't know why. But in my family both girls and boys got the same status. But I have seen in some other families that boys are getting preference to girls.

i treated them equally but we have opposite idea of my husband, he is more aware of my daughter to the outside world because, many things will happend and she couldnt protect her self for being not strong than the man has.
