What would you give as a wedding gift: money or presents?

Money, presents tends to be duplicated or sometimes too many of the same kind. Money still the best thing to give...cause they might need it on other urgent needs..

My daughter is getting married and everyone asks what to get them for a wedding gift. Well she has her own house with everything already and so does he. They didn't registar anywhere because they don't really need anything. So I tell people that we will be having a money tree. Which is really what they want. I know it seems rude to do money, but why does someone need another mixer or toaster. I do tell people that they like candles. With money they can get something big for their house that they will both enjoy. It is just up to you now days people like getting money, just as much as receiveing a gift.

It wouldn't hurt to ask them. I tend to give cash as presents unless I come across something that really suits a person. I hate the idea of giving a gift that will be a waste to the person I am giving it to. I figure cash is king, they can buy whatever they need or want. My grown nieces enjoy the gifts I make them so I always take the time to do something handmade for them. I know their tastes so it is easier. My great-nephews, though, I am out of touch, so I give them cash because I don't know what to give them. If in doubt cash always works, especially in this economy. And if the couple has been living together before getting married they usually have everything they need.

MOst of the time, i will give cash as it's more pratical.. AS like u say, we dunno the bride and groom well enough, thus, giving cash is better as they will have more use for it.. NO matter how much, it's the thought that counts^_^

I will prefer giving presents. Because whenever he will look at the presents,he will remember about me. Certainly I will plan for a very special gift,which will be unique,and will not be duplicated by other guests at the party.

i attended once a wedding i prefer to give money it never give me headaches to thing for.

I think give money is better. They can buy whatever thing they like .
My Madagascar friend told me a story: that the present he gave to his friend a few years came back to him when he married. In Madagascar, they won't give money, they all gave presents. His presents during his marriage occupied all of his store room. It might take ten years to dispose all the presents.

I prefer to to present some cash according to my ability.In these hard days it will be of immense use for the newly weds.if you give some gift what they will do with i since now a days every body has all sorts of decorative items.so such gifts will never be appreciated.of course you can present some ornament to the bride if your purse allows,that will be more appreciated.thanx.

I think I'd feel strange giving money as a gift to a married couple that I don't know so well. Maybe you could ask your friend what they would like that might be within your budget.

Maybe look for an unusual carved figurine of an entwined couple or something. They can be found most places and some are really nice!

I don't think they'd receive too many of those, because most people buy home wares and electrical items as you said.
