I have dabbled on it for several years. I am not really devoting as much time to it as I would like. It is difficult for me since I have very small hands, so stretching across the fret board properly is almost impossible at times, especially for some of those chords! I hope to put more into it and learn to really play when I have more time to devote to it. I always took piano when I was younger, and always go bored with it very quickly because I wanted to play something more portable like strings... I never told my parents I wanted to play strings though (not sure why because I am not one to be silent or secretive about what I want!). Then my parents bought a guitar several years ago as kind of a "family toy," and I started teaching myself notes and stuff. I think I will have more fun with guitar once I learn more.

that's my problem too, i got short hands that playing the guitar is a hard thing for me to do.. but even if that's the case, i still tried my best.. thanks God i learned to play some simple chords, i played songs that are easy to play with the guitar..

i also tried playing the piano before.. my mother enrolled me to a piano lesson and i think that went for like 2 years.. i knew i got something from it, but when i grew up i stopped taking lessons.. now i regret that i never continued my lessons.. if only i could turn back time..

I got my first guitar for my 18th birthday. I didn't really work at it at all, just fiddled with the strings for a few months.
Then I got a real nice one from my friends around my 23rd birthday. My neighbor was pretty good on his, so he taught me a few songs and some exercises. I worked at pretty hard for about a year, and have not done much with it since...that'd be about 3 years now. I still take it out and tune it up and fiddle for a while, but time is limited and I no longer live next door to my mentor.

it's good for you that you learned playing the guitar without having a formal guitar lessons. it only means that you have the talent for music, unlike me. iv been strumming guitars for how many years now but i only know a few songs, imperfectly. haha. lol. but im still looking forward in doing great with guitars. thanks for the reply!
