Does a second job really help financial problems?

If any of your jobs are costing you more than you're earning, quit. I recently read an article that that is happening to a lot of minimum wage earners who don't live close to their jobs. It's more cost effective to collect unemployment than to spend the money on gas.

no, i dont think so. i think your idea of scaling back is a great one. my hubby and i have totally learned how to be frugal in our ways and it has really helped quite a bit. check out frugal living sites online - they will help you tremendously!

I don't see how two half jobs could be more successful than one full job as two halves make a whole, so how are you making more money. If anything you are probably loosing more money through travel costs, because rather than travelling to and from one job a day, you are travelling to and from two jobs a day. Maybe you could look for one job with a decent wage and you will find that you save money.

That goes to show that our time now is so very hard compared before. I think having 3 jobs doesn't make any difference than in having 1 steady job. The more you will spend time and money if you are transferring from one place to another to report to your next job. Maybe the best thing to do to earn extra income is doing it online where you are not going to spend gas. Just sit down in your computer and there you go.

I would say, online earning for extra cash is better than driving to another place to work.

Hello mainman, It sounds like you are working too much to enjoy the home that you are paying for to live in. I think you should get a job that is closer to home. I know it is probably easier said then done. I don't think declaring bankruptcy is the answer. I know with gas and food prices going up constantly it is hard to keep your head above water! I do wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do. I do think 3 jobs is too many though. That would kill me.

well, i don't why that happens to you... if you have 2 1/2 jobs, you have to earn more rather than just having 1 job... unless if you change the way you spend your money as well when you have more jobs... what i mean is, people tend to spend more when they earn more... if that happens, then there is nothing weird if you don't have more cash left even though you work 2 1/2 jobs... may be you have to budget your money more strictly and you will see that you will be able to save some extra cash... good luck and have a nice day...

although making money is important but it should not affect our health .a second job means more travelling and having less time to spend with our family .I think it is better to stick to one job and lead a less extravagant life .

Why don't you try commuting to your second job to save on gas? As for your food expenses, just bring your own lunch and snack from home.Not only will it come out cheaper, you're also assured that it's clean since you prepared it yourself. The reason why the second job isn't helping you out is because your standard of living is also changing. SO if you adopt a simpler lifestyle, I'm sure you'll be able to save enough from the second job.:)
