New AC/DC Album due out in the Fall

Somehow I doubt that. I have a friend in Australia who told me they have no Walmarts there. As a matter of fact I had to take her to one when she came to visit the US. I would think it's more likely that distributors like Itunes and Amazon wanted too much money and Walmart gave them a better deal. In any case I will be checking it out when it comes out so thank you for the heads up.

When is it out, and hwat is it called, I wouldnt mind buying it, I coulda probably get it because Walmart own ASDA a supermarket chain in the UK.

If, indeed, they decide to sell the album only at Wal-Mart, it wouldn't be the first time a big name band has decided to do this. I know that U2 ablums are now exclusively sold at Wal-Mart and, in fact, I just heard an interview on a local radio station the other day with the lead singer of Loverboy stating that their new CD would also be available only at Wal-Mart.

When he was asked why, he said that it is a win-win situation for both the band and the store. Many of the smaller music stores are struggling and going out of business trying to compete with online sales of music and the larger big-box stores, thus creating less distribution avenues.

By putting together an exclusive deal, the band receives more publicity in Wal-Mart ads, gets an upfront licensing fee, etc. and Wal-Mart gets people coming into their store looking for the album that may not already have a reason to shop there. Once they're in the store to get the album however, the chance they will buy some other merchandise, while there, greatly improves. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, there's also the fact that Wal-Mart is the number one music seller in the U.S.

Anyway, I'm sure the new album is gonna kick butt in true ACDC fashion and I can't wait to get my copy.

No it's probably because they are trying to appeal to the younger public and put in a place where a person that actually buys there music instead of illegally downloading it would go. It might be a good market idea if their cd is even good. I hope they get some of their old ways back. ROCK ON!!

Heard the track, good old AC/DC Can't wait for the album...

I love ACDC it is my favorite band, the only track that has come out yet is Rock n' roll train, from the new disk Black Ice, i already downloaded it with Ares and got it in my cell phone i use to heart ACDC a lot of the time.

I see the advertisement on TV a lot.
It could be that Wal*mart is paying
an exclusive rights for selling the album.

I know that Target's advertisements
usually end in "only at Target" but
that isn't always the case.

It goes the same for a lot of other
companies this is just a form of
tring to get you to shop from them
and not the competitors.
