My Pole Beans (green beans)

I've got quite a few types of beans planted, though I couldn't tell you what they all are! My favourite are a black & white pattered one, really striking looking. I grew some last year but only got a few so I didn't eat any as I wanted to save the seed. fingers crossed that this year's crop is more successfull!

I love growing beans as they save so well. I dry them on the vines then put them away in glass jars for later in the year. I tried preserving some green beans using a lacto fermentation method last year. Although they look OK, I've not tasted any yet.

Yum! I'm buying mine from Green Giant in the freezer bags but if I had them I would get out and pick them. I like picking pole beans cause they aren't on the ground they grow upwards. I remember them as a kid... I hated working in a garden back then... scared of the bugs and spiders... and hated the heat and the bending over.. my brother, mother and me all had to work the big garden, but we had lots of veggies.

No beans here for the first time ever. Planted more a few days ago and hope at least a couple come up. I make 3-bean salad with my beans as well as adding them to a couple other dishes as a stir-in a few minutes before the dish is done. Otherwise, we just eat them with butter or oil/vinager.

I took an old cattle panel (fencing panel) and bent it into a trellis. I plant about 15 to 20 sees on each side of it and they grow up into the trellis. I can walk up to it and pick beans above my head and it's great for limited spaces.

My parents do this with cucumbers too, it works great.

I am glad that you clarified that a pole bean was a green bean because even though i remember when i was small my grandmother talking about picking pole beans- i really had no idea that they were green beans! Good Luck with them hope you get lots.

We pulled fresh beans off the plants on her side of the fence - with the people's permission - and they were yummy, just nuked slightly.

I am the same way I love to just snack on them. Even Tyler will snack on them. I have about 6 planted but as each row of three sprouts up a few inches i plant more so I will have them in stages instead of all at once.

I have to give you much credit your garden has to be beautiful and I would love to be your neighbor. I would rather come to your house for my veggies instead of the store. Just the discussions of them let me know that you have a great green thumb when it comes to growing a good garden when the weather is right. I know that you have a nice size freezer for the winter and still have plenty of veggies with not problems. That is so great. My grandmother had a garden when i was small. I remember that was one thing she did every year with the warm weather would come is grow her veggies. But she gone now and it's just nice to here that there are a few green thumbs left in this world. Have a good one and happy growing.

beans and how she always put a bit of ham hock in them and
they were so good. now I buy them in the store but its not'
the same, the flavor of fresh is not there, sometimes I
can get close with frozen beans but not on the dot lol.

sound u forecast the rock high inflation and getting ready to HAVE SOME RELEIF by hone garden, and u learn from experience too

We we dont have veggies in our house as its not big enough, but we have grapes and luckily they are full of fruits now and we enjoy picking them and then eating them when they are Cold
