Should I color or keep it grey? |
|
Grey hair is one of those hair concerns that most people deal with at some point in their lives. The key question is whether to hide it with color or let it out in its full glory. Historically men have been considered "distinguished" with grey hair but women have been marked as "older" if they let their grey hair show. In the new millennium, these attitudes about grey hair, styles, appropriate lengths and color have been changing dramatically. Most people no longer let hair and fashion industry experts dictate the "right color" or the "best style" and make their own personal choices based on what works best for their lifestyles. In your opinion, should I color my grey hair or not?

1. Gargoyle0134 (1251) | 4 months ago | grey hair is a sign of wisdom. why colour it? I never have/never will. Like Popeye used to say, "I YAM who I YAM and that's all that I YAM!" LOL!

2. gsgonzalez2007 (709) | 4 months ago | Actually, it all depends on you and on which you are more comfortable. In my case, I'm starting to have gray hair. But considering that I had been used to coloring my hair, so I still do it.

3. travibabiesgirl (986) | 4 months ago | I think that has to be a personal choice. if it would make you feel better about yourself I say go for it. If you don't think you will feel better about yourself why waste the time or money? Now that I color my hair I feel I have to keep on doing it because I otherwise look frumpy and my roots are showing. Had I have just kept the little bit of grey I had no one would be the wiser as to what I would have looked like by dying it. Now it is like I am expected to die it. I hope that all made sense any way it is a choice you have to make for you and how it will make you feel.

4. thelastwolf113 (1920) | 4 months ago | I have grey hair, my dad had grey hair. I thought mine would look great like his. I let it grow out and it looked awful, so I decided to color it. Maybe see how it looks, and then decide.

5. RLFinNash (5750) | 4 months ago | hello marleysa i am forty-five years old will be forty-six this coming October, and i have had my hair colored for several years now, and i love it when i get my hair fixed. i go once every three or four months to get my hair colored, and trimmed back up. it makes me feel great to go get my hair done. i cannot stand the grey hairs mixed into my dark color of hair, and i find that they are wirey and not straight at all either, they stick out and i think that grey hairs on women our age, doesn't look very well. that is just my opinion about the matter and i just like to keep up my looks so to speak. maybe when that i am eighty years old then i will let that grey hair take over then. but i am not about to at my age. lol have a beautiful day today!

6. cjgrooms (2811) | 4 months ago | My opinion should not matter in the least. What ever makes you smile when you look in the mirror should be what you do. My hair is beginning to gray around the edges but i have always loved silver hair so i probably won't color it to get rid of it, i do however plan to have it dyed red when i work up the courage simply because i have always wanted red hair at least once before i die.I am sure i won't keep it red but i still want to see it red!

Marleysa (2781) | 4 months ago | lol..I had this dream about being blond for once in my life and plucked up the courage to do it a few years ago...well, it really came out nice, but then men started bothering instantly and hubby got very worked up next to me, so after three weeks it went back to auburn and all the attention stopped again...lol..a treasured memory...lol

cjgrooms (2811) | 4 months ago | I was born with cotton white hair and have been through every color on my way to the dark brown that it is now. My sister however had jet black hair her entire life and she bleached hers blond and i swear i couldn't understand why, after all i had had that color hair and it wasn't all that great. Guess you just want what you don't have! Like RED!

Marleysa (2781) | 4 months ago | That's so true..lol..My sister had this thick, beautiful "golden" blond hair and what did she go do?!! She went and colored it an awful dark brown?? Brown hair with light blue eyes just don't look right, does it? ..lol.. I think I've decided to color my hair till the last 3% is also gray, then I'll stop..

7. maryannemax (10498) | 4 months ago | it all depends on you. you have to stand infront of a mirror and look at yourself. are you not satisfied and confident with the color of your hair? if yes, then, color it! it's for your own sake anyway. but if you are confident, then, just live it. i have some friends who doesn't color their grey hairs. they say that there's nothing to hide anyway. anne

8. Irishfrndly65 (2715) | 4 months ago | You should do what YOU like and whatever YOU are most comfortable with, unless you have a SO to please, then of course ask their opinion as well. I happen to love my red hair. I am starting to get a few white ones up there, which look more like gold mixed in so it doesn't bother me too much. I have thought of henna just for the fun of it. I might like it a darker red, ya know? If I do anything I will henna it. I have a friend who has done it for years and said she would do mine as well. I think it would be fun to do. Let me know if you think I should go a bit darker red(from my pic on profile).;) I guess if the grey really showed and it bothered me, I wouldn't hesitate to henna it.

10. gemini_rose (7982) | 4 months ago | I think it depends on what sort of grey it is, I mean there are some really gorgeous colours of grey about! I think that if you look in the mirror and you do not feel happy with the grey colour you see then get it done. But if you look in the mirror and feel happy with how you look and are comfortable with it then keep it!

Marleysa (2781) | 4 months ago | Thing is just this, although it is mostly a pure "white" gray, there are still a few stubborn auburn ones in between which I don't know why they have not turned to gray too? I would say that approximately 97% is white and 3% auburn..and this is causing the confusion..or indecision I feel..
