du u listen when your children speak

I always try to listen when my kids are speaking b/c I want them to know that I think what they are saying is important and they are important to me. Sometimes their blabbering is just that-blabbering nonsense, but I still try to give it all the attention I can and not make them feel like I don't care. I do care. I like what they have to say. Sometimes I think, why am I wasting my time. But then another thought occurs to me: if I don't listen to them now, will they come to talk to me later, when they're older? So I perk up and give them my full attention--no matter what their topic of discussion is.

I do feel that it is importan to listen to children even if you don't understand. They need to feel that they can connect to people and as parents, we are the first lot of people that they can connect to.

As the children get older, they may not chat to you as much as they are starting to make their own life. So I think if you continue to listen to them while they are young, they may continue to come back to you when they need some one to talk to.

Well that is what I think.

Hey I listen to my children all the the time. I admit sometimes they can get on my nerves,but sons are 2 years old and I think to myself the more that speak to me the more helpful it is in the long run.
