Do you TALK LESS and LISTEN MORE?or TALK MORE and LISTEN LESS?

I listen more, so much so, that people say I don't liek talking to them and I am too quiet lol. Talking much is just not my thing...I listen and then give my input.

However, I do shut people up who have the tendency to talk, talk and don't let ne even get in a word. Or they ask me a question and before I can answer assume they know what I am going to say or I am thinking...

It depends on the mood.. sometimes i listen more and talk less. Sometimes talk more listen less. But nowadays, I find myself i listen more and talk less. I think i can help them more to someone they will listen with them. They will out the emotions what they've got. So you helped them without doing anything but listen. When you talk more I think it will never help at all.

I've always been told that i'm a good listener.I barely speak.I only do where its necessary.Thats just the way i am.Back in college this worked well for my friends since they all are big talkers.Whenever they had issues of any sort,they turned to me for advise.And if not advise,they just needed to be heard out.So most of my friends are just the opposite and maybe thats the reason we get along so well-theres a balance.Since i don't ta;k much,when i need to talk about something i have full atention from people.Because they know if i want to talk,there must be something important.But i do have crazy times when,say out of station or while on a roadtrip where i completely change and am equally talkative as the rest of the people.But only enough-not too much,if you know what i mean.I am a pretty good listener otherwise.I don't know if thats something to be proud of,but i usually also get attracted to people who don't talk much.Lol.

You are so right...nowadays people are losing the skill to listen. I guess that's why there's a training course called 'Listening Skills'. And even when they seem to be listening, they either heard the wrong things, or interprete it their way. Listening is a skill - it takes patience to listen to others. I talk more when I'm with my own friends or family, or when I'm required to (at work). Other than that, it's best to keep quiet and listen.

I think I'm both. It really depends on my partner. If she/he is in bad mood and need someone to listen to, I'll listen to it. Otherwise, I'll just talk and talk especially when I in bad mood!

Hi there mommmyscribbles, I would like to say also that it depends to whom I am talking with...When a friend will talk about problems in life, I am more of a listener...But when we are just exchanging our life experiences, I talk a lot, and I would say we talk a lot! LOL!

Im a talker. As long as i know who the person is i will keep talking until i hear them speak or i feel the person is annoyed. I honestly do not like pauses and silence so i keep talking to avoid the akwardness of a pause.

I think the best communication comes from talking when we should and listening when we should. Most people don't master this.

I think most people, while thinking they're listening aren't really doing that. They're considering what they will say next. True listening doesn't mean you're thinking up a great answer. It means you're listening.

In principle you should speak less and listen more.
I, however, have the bad habit of talking without stopping when I think I have something important or highly relevant to say.
This, I admit, is wrong. The truth is I really don't think other people, most of them, that is, have essential contributions to make. So when the conversation gets down to the near nonsense level, which it always does, I butt in and don't stop.
I've been talked to about this but I've never stopped because other people still talk nonsense anyway.
