Awwww... well you have good reason to feel lost without your mobile phone, my friend. I hate phone boxes anyway. Half of them don't work, and you have to keep pumping the ones that do, with change. Drives me nuts!

I remember standing in puddles of pub water inside the lovely red telephone boxes in England sometimes, and trying 50pence coins and they still wouldn't work grrrrr Lovely! heheheh Love that smell don't you Darkwing hahah?

Lol... these days, the phone boxes are clear perspex all the way round except the side on which the phone is situated, so if caught passing pub water into the corner, I think there might be a few embarrassed drunkards, huh? Ewwwwwww... yes, the smell, in the old, red phone boxes!

Speaking of frogs, I had a frog once and it croaked coaxingly and drew me very near to it, only to swallow my heart and soul in one swift flick of its tongue...I am no longer partial to handsome frogs.

That's a good comparison, my friend. I often forget to put my watch on, and it's so annoying when you're in town or somewhere, with no clocks to check the time on. Like when you're waiting for a bus or something... I hate having to ask people the time! Too independent, I suppose!

I don't have the foggiest idea what the younger generation would do for it seems that they'd rather be texting or calling friends on their mobiles, than talking face to face. They can be forty yards away from each other and still find the need to text or call!

Oh yes, in your situation, I hope you never find the need to use your mobile phone. I find it's handy if you're meeting somebody, and they're not where you think you're supposed to be meeting. I met a Mylot friend one day, and she'd forgotten her purse, so stayed near to where her son had dropped her off, so he could bring it back to her. Meanwhile, I was about fifty yards away, but out of view, waiting at our designated meeting place, so I phoned her, and she stepped out into view and waved to me.

It sure was. It was quite strange that we met in Mylot and yet only live a short distance from each other! lol.

No one here lives real close to me.
There is one who lives about an hour away.
I think they are the closest to me.

I guess that's quite close in your neck of the woods. I guess she's about twenty minutes or so drive from me, but neither of us drives, so we caught bus and train into the nearest town, and spent the whole day together, including lunch and a beer. It was great!

That would be wonderful to have someone living so close.
And 20 minutes is not all that far.

No, it's not far at all... but then, in our small island... nothing is!

Yes, I think it can be a safety thing but also, you're never quite sure who may need to get hold of you out of the blue. Perhaps somebody whom you haven't seen in quite a while, or perhaps even a family crisis, of some description.

That's quite true, my friend. I used to remember several of the landline numbers because you didn't need to remember the area code as well, but mobiles have twelve digits and I can't even remember my own! lol.

There was one time, when I left mine hanging on a trolley at Tesco, but I was lucky... it was still there when I went back. Thank goodness for the wet, English weather sometimes!

Yes, I know what you mean. However, there have been times when I've just forgotten to pick mine up. If I'm not far away, I'll come back and get it, but I certainly feel lost without it.

No, I won't fall off my chair in shock. I like your attitude towards your phone. I'm sure it's so much better not to have to rely on it, but I can't be that way, as I have many commitments, and need to be available most of the time. I even put my phone beside my pillow at night, in case of family emergencies, since losing my dad suddenly and not being able to be with him.

It's good not to have to rely on a mobile phone, and certainly, there is no point paying line rental if you don't use it often. That's why I have pay and go, because you only put on what you need and when you need it.
