Back to driving

I had a colonoscopy and was not able to drive for one day. Even that seemed like punishment. i would hate to have my right to drive taken away for longer. My husband had colon surgery and could not drive for about a week.

Well good for you and i am so glad you are doing so much better,i know i dont like having to depend on other people either.But some times we have to.Stay well and enjoy driving again and take care.

After I had my hip replacement I had to wait 2 months. It got kind of old having people (wife) take me places, so I just hung around the house. Glad you can get out and feel the breeze in your hair. Also glad you're feeling better.

That's wonderful. I bet it does feel really good to get out there when you feel like it and just go. Glad you're feeling better.

I had big, female surgery about 25 years ago and then developed pneumonia right after the surgery. I wasn't able to drive for awhile but it sure wasn't the length of time you've been unable to drive. I am thinking it was about 3 weeks before I had the strength to drive.

I had to be driven for about 6weeks a couple of years back when I broke my wrist and i hated it! I had minor surgery at the end of last week so haven't driven since Thursday because of the position of the seat belt on the drivers side. I am usually driving everyone else so find it very frustrating. I've said that, if I ever have to give up driving permanently I shall take up drinking!!

congrats Terry! this means you are well on your way to mending... Shesh hon when I had my back surgery, it was a good 6 months before I could drive comfortably. So you doing a good job!

I know exactly how you feel. I had surgery on my wrists a while ago and also couldn't drive for 6 weeks after. The first time I did drive, I was ecstatic, because I had that freedom back in my hands - no more depending on other people to run you around everywhere! I was independent again and it felt so good!

COngratulations terry. That's not only great because you had a chance to drive again, but also because it means your almost all better:):):)

When I had the surgery on my foot, and even before, I would avoid driving if I could not because I couldn't but because it was painful and accelerating wasn't bad but braking took more pressure from my foot, so yes I know how it feels to not have driven for a while and be able to start driving, its a good feeling, I can 100 percent relate to you.

And it will get better I promise, as you get more practice driving again it will all come back to you....like riding a bike, once you learn you don't forget.
