Do you think war with Iran is inevitable? |
|
I was listening to the news today, and it sure seems like war with Iran is on the near horizon. Israel wants to strike them to stop their nuclear program. Iran has said they will close down the strate of hormuz where 40% of the worlds oil passes through. That of course has led the US to say that would be an act of war. I cant imagine this happening. It would be disastrous to an already struggling economy. I hope it is just talk and rhetoric, in an election year.

melissaruth1 (2840) | 4 months ago | I assume you mean about it being rhetoric in an election year, and not that it is inevitable.
| |
|
|
cjgrooms (2811) | 4 months ago | Yes, I did mean rhetoric. I don't think any war is inevitable. I think if people would sit down and compromise it could be avoided, of course someone will probably insist on it all being his way and that will be that!

2. tomkite (528) | 4 months ago | the iranians must retaliate by stopping all shipments to europe, usa, canada. they have to teach many lessons to the USA. but i hope the attack does not occur.

melissaruth1 (2840) | 4 months ago | I hope not either, for all the worlds sake.

spalladino (3268) | 4 months ago | The iranians must retaliate by stopping all shipments to europe, usa, canada? So, is it your opinion that Iran has some international right to repeatedly threaten their neighbor with complete destruction when their neighbor (Israel) is doing nothing but living in peace? Tell me how, under these circumstances, Iran should be free to continue it's nuclear weapons program until the day they fire a missle at Israel? And, just out of curiosity, what are some of the lessons that Iran has to teach to the U.S.? You see, we...and the world...learned a very important one many years ago when we stood by silently while another fanatical leader, Adolf Hitler, murdered millions of innocent people and THAT lesson will not be forgotten by decent people worldwide. It's interesting that you single out the U.S. when the most serious threat to Iran if they persist is not going to come from here but from Israel, who will strike faster and harder than we would.

anniepa (5841) | 4 months ago | Maybe, but if Israel does strike while bush is still in office or if, God forbid, McCain gets elected, we'll HAVE to get involved and show who's really the ruler of the world. Annie

tomkite (528) | 4 months ago | i just want to remind the american p[eople how the american leaders could overreact to the war like situations. they have yt be patient with the iranian nuclear programs and take the word of irasnian leaders. remember, many countries in the world already have nuclear weapons, and nuclear weapons progeams. take pakistan for instance. they also want to destroy israel, like the other arab countries.what did your american politicians do? nothing. they kept quiet. and they paid the price for it,after the september 11 attacks occurred. nuclear weapons are not new. even i work for a nuclear program in my own country. i have seen marerials having upto atleast 30 percent enrichment. i was openly told by my coworkers and bosses about the extra purposes of the radioactive waste storage. i do not care about it because my working conditions are good. remember, israel already has 400 nuclear weapond that are undeclared. they have a nuclear progra at dimona. the usa is not talking about it why? it is because there are a lot of jewish politicians present in the american circle who openly support israel. they make sure that the us exports about 200 million worth of military equipments to israel every year.that is why the iranians are worried.iran does not want any land from israel.israel for its part must realise its own mistakes and give about 40 percent of their land to the palestinians, whether muslims or christians.then they shoud check out whether this satisfies the palestinians, arab countries, and iranians. i think that is s good way for a start. if hamas further continues violence, then israel must be given the right to reoccupy the 40 percent land. nuclear weapons have nothing in politics. iam sure the iranians use their nuclear weapons program for peaceful program. otherwise, they would not have spent so much material and money to build a large amount of facilities. nuclear weapons, when used, can destroy any country, for that matter. remember,it was the americans themselves who first nuclear weapons in the first place, in japan. but they were not threatened by the japanese.this shows that the americans were the real culprits and cowards. they could have dropped atleast one nuclear weapon on an empty uninhabited japanese island. truman knew the true power of the bomb. but i think the us politicians are a lot changed now.but still they could commit some mischiefs,if not dropping nuclear weapons. but th e world is a lot changed now. no country will be sitting and watching idly,an american invasion at present,be it the iranians or north koreans. fire for fire, tooth for tooth. the iranians must stop shipping oil to all countries in europe and north america. the question i ask is, does israel have te courage to use conventional weapons alone? i hope the iranians show a lot of courage on the battle field too, should the situation arise. the worrying thing is that the other arab countries are not openly supporting the iranians, be it saudi arabia, oman, kuwait, quatar, egypt,so on. it is because their governments are more friendly towards the us government. also, they are real cowards. they do not seem to have any presence of mind. even alladin, sindbad, ali baba fare better than the present generation of people living in the arab world. the iranians must be givenchance to demonstrate their intention of producing electricity. it take 3 to 4 years to commission a nuclear power plant. the iranians have not openly said that they are going to use nuclear weapons against israel.they just want israel destroyed by conventional war or want the israeli land vacated and reoccupied by the palestinians.they know that they too will be subject to nuclear weapon attack from israel if they used nuclear weapons. do not come to false conclusion so fast. the words of the iranian politicians must be taken into confidence. why did the israeli fools not attack pakistanis nuclear facilities? they are going to regret that decision sooner or later. the usa is also going to regret that.

melissaruth1 (2840) | 4 months ago | tomkite the leader of Iran has been on TV saying that if he gets a nuclear weapon he will wipe Israel off the face of the earth. I dont see how that is american leaders believing what israel says. I have seen him on tv saying such things with my own eyes and ears. I dont think anyone cares if they have nuclear energy, but seriously with all that oil why do they need it? Plus we all know they are making weapons, and it is not just usa that is objecting to that. I think even if Obama were to get office, if israel struck iran, and iran retaliates we would still have to get involved. Doesnt matter if its McCain or Obama, we will be involved.

3. anniepa (5841) | 4 months ago | I can't say enough how much I agree with you that I hope it's just talk and rhetoric because that would be absolutely devastating to the entire world in so many ways. It's really scary to even think about. I hate to even think that anyone would do something like that in the hopes of swaying the election but stranger things have happened and sometimes people put politics above anything else, even the lives of thousands of people. It would seem to me that would doom McCain but there are too many who don't believe in making changes in the time of war and McCain sure wouldn't be any change from Bush. It's awful because from things I've read for years the Iranian people have no gripe with us and I certainly have none with them. People are the same no matter what country they live in and who their leaders are, in my opinion. Sure, there are radical nutcases everywhere but I'm talking about the average person who is doing like we're all doing, just trying to provide for our families and live a decent life. Let's hope this doesn't come to pass, that's all I can say. Annie

4. thelastwolf113 (1920) | 4 months ago | I've seen it as inevitable for about 5 years now, it's just a matter of when. Having Israel make the first strike would be perfect for the US, so we won't be seen as the invading force, but you can bet on us being involved, if Israel goes to Iran, we go right behind them.
| |
| |
|
|
melissaruth1 (2840) | 4 months ago | I agree that would be the most optimal, for Israel to strike and then we have to show support. I think Bush has been trying for a long time to pursue this route. Of course who knows, that could be media just getting more viewers. At any rate, I sure hope everyone can just work out the differences, and avoid more blood shed on either side.

5. mrghill (1388) | 4 months ago | Israel knows any attack on Iran from them will result in an apocalyptic attack from all sides from their Arabic neighbors, so this is not a 'wise' thing to do strategically. Iran does not want to risk war with the U.S and other forces because recovery from the amount of damages and the occupation of western governments on Arabic is far worst than negotiations. Ultimately, The U.N and the neighboring Arabic countries will negotiate terms to check Iran for nuclear weapons, the weapons won't be found and the world will keep on turning. The End.:D

7. snowy22315 (5084) | 4 months ago | God, I hope not. That's scary to even think about. I think we would stand a much better chance of staying out of war with Obama at the helm, just my personal opinion. Where's it all going to end? Are we going to be bogged down in the middle east forever? I can see keeping a few residual troops in Iraq and Afghanistan but wow, this is tough.

melissaruth1 (2840) | 4 months ago | I dont know if we will ever be able to just mind our own business. I think countries look to us to do something. I think McCain would lean more towards conflict too, but am not convinced Obama could say no either.

8. borg_queen (1849) | 3 months ago | I wouldn't be surprised if the US blows one of their own ships then blame Iran for it. They've been doing that since the explosion in Cuba in 1898. Just so you know your country is a slave of Israel.
| |
| |
|
|
melissaruth1 (2840) | 3 months ago | Im not sure slave of Israel is the correct term, but we do have an alliance with them.
| |
|
|
Bugsey (523) | 3 months ago | It's called a defense pact. Besides, why NOT? After all, I would suspect that Israel probably could have more nukes than the USA. That's a wise alliance, rather than having an alliance with that psycho leader of Iran. Nothing personal.

|
borg_queen (1849) | 3 months ago | You guys should really do your own research than rely on your dumbass media like Fox News. Your country IS a slave of the great squatter-nation of Israel.
| |

melissaruth1 (2840) | 3 months ago | You are entitled to your nasty opinion. I was not nasty to you, please dont disrespect me in return.

borg_queen (1849) | 3 months ago | I didn't disrespect you. I simply insulted your idiotic media and the squatter nation of the Jews. There's a difference. Do learn how to read, honey.

melissaruth1 (2840) | 3 months ago | yep I dont know how to read, and this one wasnt disrespectful either I guess. Thanks for posting.

Bugsey (523) | 3 months ago | Hey Borg-Queen, you seem to like making anti-Jewish and anti-US statements. I know some Filipinas and they are not like you so I will withold my comment about your people being imported to Arab countries as main export. Is the US and Israel to be blamed for that too?
| |
|
|
borg_queen (1849) | 3 months ago | @melissa: you know, the 90s called. They want sarcasm back. @bugsy: Actually yes. The Jews do own the IMF and WB that keeps giving loans to poor countries at astronomical interest rates. I don't hate Jews as a people. I hate the Jewish families like the Rothschild, Rockefellers, Warburgs, etc. They actually control the western world.

9. Bugsey (523) | 3 months ago | Oh believe me, Israel will always do what it ust do to protect itself! I think that Iranin madman should go and commit himself to the nearest loony bin, preferably somewhere in Tel Aviv and we'd have a more peaceful world!

melissaruth1 (2840) | 3 months ago | I am not sure he is looney. He is definately extremely intelligant, clever, and has his own philosophy.

tomkite (528) | 3 months ago | the iranian president seems to make the unwanted comments maybe because he is not mature enough. or maybe he does for time pass. he may be warning the israelis not to be too aloof .
| |
|
|
melissaruth1 (2840) | 3 months ago | I think he makes the comments, because he is clever and intelligant. He knows how to throw out just the right amount of rhetoric, to get the desired effect he wants. I honestly did not expect this topic to go on as long as it did. Thanks to everyone that posted, even if we disagree.
