I'm home after surgery. |
|
Just wanted to give my friends an update on me. I went in yesterday morning at 8am. They brought me into the OR at 9am. I don't remember a thing after getting in the room. I vaguely remember scootching to the operating table. Next thing I know I'm in recovery with 4 bandaids on my tummy. I finally woke up enough around 2pm and asked for my contacts and my husband. He showed up around 3 and I was feeling rather well so asked to go home. I spent most of the rest of the day lounging on the sofa. I'm a bit sore today, but otherwise fine. I don't expect to be doing anything but lounging on the sofa some more. We've got lots of movies for me to watch.

Let everyone make a fuss of you for a bit as i'm sure you are usually the one taking care of everyone else! I went for surgery last week and they told me I'd be 1st on the list so i was there at 7.15am as instructed. I got bumped to last so didnt get taken down till 3.15pm but was home by 8pm. Hope to be back to work end of next week - before I get too used to sitting around;-)

katsmeow1213 (1464) | 3 months ago | I had planned a different type surgery a few years ago after my twins were born. I was going to get my tubes tied the very next morning, so I could not eat or drink anything after the babies were born. I waited and waited and waited, finally around 1pm they told me they'd had emergecny c-secions so were not able to get me in and I'd have to reschedule. I never did reschedule it, but it annoyed me that I had to go that long without food or water.

Wizzywig (1048) | 3 months ago | ooh yes! yours was a very long wait! it did cross my mind that I might get cancelled if the earlier cases developed complications and took longer. They let me have sips of water until 4 hours before and afterwards brought me a pre-pack sandwich & some juice.

katsmeow1213 (1464) | 3 months ago | It was a laproscopic surgery, and many times it's done as an outpatient procedure. My doctor appears to be the only one who wants you to stay the night, but I insisted on going home as it's a lot more comfortable at home than it is in the hospital.

4. gemini_rose (7383) | 3 months ago | I am really pleased that the surgery went so well for you and that you are back at home so fast! You are lucky, when I go into hospital I always end up in there for longer than I should as I have bad reactions to the anaesthetic, my blood pressure goes that low that I am always zonked for at least 48 hours after and have to be monitored for ages. But it is great to hear that you are OK xx

katsmeow1213 (1464) | 3 months ago | I probably could have slept longer, and they really wanted me to stay till this morning, but I just wouldn't give in. I wanted to be home where I could be more comfortable. Of course now that I'm here with the kids raising heck and hubby getting cranky at every turn, I wonder why I didn't stay longer, lol.

5. DonnaLawson (1622) | 3 months ago | I am glad that everything went well, have you got any results yet?? I hate to say it but I told you so, I didn't think that it would be very serious but again, I wasn't the one going on the table to have the procedure.. Hospitals try to be as non-invasive as possible and it might not be long before we have painless surgery.. Now, I can handle that one.. Good going for you, rest up and take care..

katsmeow1213 (1464) | 3 months ago | I am not waiting for results. I had my gall bladder removed due to gall stones. No need for results there, lol. But now I will be able to eat foods that contain fat without having a painful attack!

DonnaLawson (1622) | 3 months ago | Ok, I remember now, I believe that I posted to your discussion about being nervous the day before the surgery.. I has a senior moment but I am ok now.. Anyway I am happy for you and the new food friendship. Take it easy, eat and milk it for all you can, make everyone wait on you if possible and enjoy..

6. GreenMoo (1862) | 3 months ago | Welcome back! So glad to hear that the surgery went well and you're already home. Isn't it amazing that they can do something like that and send you home the same afternoon with just some band-aids to show for it?!

katsmeow1213 (1464) | 3 months ago | Well I got a bit of pain to show for it as well:) Yes, being home so soon does sort of play down the fact that I had surgery, and part of me removed. It plays down the fact that I was knocked out for a few hours. Almost doesn't seem like any of it ever happened, but then I try to stand up and get a painful memory of it, lol.

GreenMoo (1862) | 3 months ago | Well don't overdo it! Make sure the rest of the family don't forget you've just had surgery either.

katsmeow1213 (1464) | 3 months ago | Yes that is what I had done, I had my gall bladder removed. I haven't had too hard of a time with it, I did have some stomach pains last night after eating something a bit fatty, almost like fantom pains. The doctor said that may happen for a bit, but it wasn't anything unbearable. It was very mild and went away pretty quick. I'm doing allright now, still sore, but it's only been a couple days.
