 Ok so my child (17 years old) says to me "mom, I will take over the laundry" ok that should have been the first clue to say "no thank you sweetie though it is nice you offered" but no in a state of weakness I said "ok". So after weeks and weeks of dissappearing laundry and assurances that said child is on top of it and has it under control and has done said laundry I make a chore chart and decide we are going to do all housework as a family. so I tell said child please help gather the laundry. Said child says and I quote "I might have a few loads in my room" and out comes the mount everest of laundry. I have atlest 4 loads of towels, 3 loads of whites, 4 loads of darks, and 3 loads of lights!!! Thank God I made the chart!! thanks for letting me vent.

I usually have about two loads to do, but then I'll do one and get a bit lazy. And usually I won't do the other load until another mound of dirty clothes piles up. But at least I often do have something to wear.

I'll do the laundry. Had the same results as you. so we had
to have a conference, outcome he learned to do his own, while
I did the rest, peace did reign and to this day,hes now fifty,he does his own laundry, and cooking too.

I read the response before this one and found out your daughter doesn't want her clothes to be touched by others. I'm sure you already figured out that she can do her own laundry and someone else will take care of the rest of the it.
It's not a big deal, but I wonder why she feels this way? None of my business I guess. I felt a twinge that a larger issue may lie beneath the surface of her discomfort. My daughter went through an episode of not wanting to touch paper and I set her up to see a psychologist to find the underlying problem.
Please forgive me if I stepped over personal boundaries. I'm not implying that your daughter needs to see a psychologist. It reminded me of my daughter, so I tossed in a personal comment. okay, bye

My teenage son likes to pile his laundry in his closet when he "cleans" his room. So to keep my peace, I don't open his closet door anymore. I don't like stress.

I am in the off season and not getting dressed up to go to work so to be honest I just never gave it much thought till I started to notice I am only wearing certain clothes and some things of mine are missing. | |

I'm really sorry I am sitting here laughing and I know you aren't laughing, but it sounds like such a teenager thing to do,
My almost 16 year old son who is in charge of washing dishes has to pre rinse, rinse, pre wash, and then wash the dishes, so its almost frustrating, believe me
I have other problems with my kids but I think anyone with kids, especially teens can relate to what you are going through.

| sweetdesign (1842) | 4 months ago | My daughter takes forever to do dishes also. For some reason she thinks that dishes need to soak forever before loading them into the dishwasher. She won't touch our castiron pans (I am so glad cause she ruined one by letting it sit with water in it in the garage...don't ask). I do not allow my pans to be washed in the dishwasher cause I have a lot of nice pans (thank you QVC) so I do all those by hand and I do all the castiron myself cause you don't use soap with castiron you just rinse it and wipe it dry and some of ours (the kind without the enamal inside) needs to be lightly oiled before putting it away. | |
