Do you get involved in office gossip?  |

 It seems at every job you have a "little bird" that flies around the office sharing just about everything about everybody. What do you do when someone just won't stop chattering. I'm the kind of person that doesn't like to talk behind someones back. But sometimes when someone "just has to tell you something you just had to know" comes up to you, how do you tell them to stop (keeping in mind you have to work with these people). I feel that once you know something about someone (whether true or not) you are already involved in the gossip circle. What are your imputs on this issue??

Usually it's just harmless and a fun way
to pass the time.
But there are also malicious people that
spread hurtful gossip and lies.
You find them at the job, on forums, etc.

2. margaux08 (83)  | 2 months ago |  If the "little bird" just popped out of nowhere and shared "juicy news" I let her/him feel that I'm not interested. I don't want to talk about anybody out of gossip simply because I don't want to be the center of the "gossip word" in the office.

That's not to say that when the news got out to the person they didn't find out I knew as well. Then they want to know how come you didn't tell them and it just gets ugly. I just stay out of these situations as much as possible. Sometimes it's hard and you don't have a choice. You have to remember that you are working with these people and sometimes see them more hours during the day than your family! | |

| 6. celestial052506 (924) | 2 months ago |  Well, I am fortunate that I am alone in the office. I am working in a rpivate company as book keeper/secretary and my boss is always out. I am always alone so, I am not involve in the gossip business. But if ever I am in this situation, I will never say something when somebody started the gossip. Just listen but don't way anything. You will not be involved in that certain habit if you will not contribute saying something too. You will never be accused of being rude too, because you are listening but not contributing. Maybe you can stop them by saying,LEAVE THEM ALONE WE CAN NOT EARN MONEY BY TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE. lol.. Or the best thing is keep quiet.
