Women are "meant " to have kids./ All women want kids.

I have to agree with you. I'm a mother of three. I feel it's good for a woman to be able to decide whether she wants to be a mother or not. No one knows what's best for you than you. I don't believe it's anyones business but yours.

couldnt agree with you more! when i was a teen everybody told me the same thing "your just young, you will want kids when you get older" blah blah blah. im just about to turn 34 years old this month, and i STILL dont want kids!

ironically enough i am now the guardian of my 13 year old little sister..which is sometimes maddening, but its ok lol. at least i didnt have to deal with her when she was a baby!

personally the whole idea of something growing inside of me is kind of gross. im sure that while shock and astound some ppl, but that how i feel, the whole being pregnant thing just seems parasitic instead of "wonderful" in my mind LOL!

And surprise, nothing's changed.Anyone who says, "oh you will change you mind" doesn't know me.And I pity Anyone who thinks they can changr,y mind. If this makes me a second class citizen in their eyes, so be it. don't have to associate with these people. They won't change my mind, they will just lose me as a friend.

Yes, people tend to generalize a lot. Those statements are not correct, of course. Not all women are meant to have kids and not all women want kids. There is nothing wrong with this.
That said, as a species and like all living things, our main goal is survival. Personal survival and species survival. There seems to be some programed biological code that instigates a certain need to procreate - as part of that survival -. The difference between all the living things and us humans is that we're not just biological beings, we're social being and even more " our own beings ":) We think, we make decisions, we have wants and want nots, we have likes and dislikes. All of which can certainly and justly override the program.
Not wanting to have kids is a personal decision and can or not be changed later in life. Having kids is certainly not something every woman wants, it's her own choice and not everyone feels the overwhelming need to have them for various reasons.
I think when people say things like " you're still young, etc " they're talking based on the times that people that didn't want children before, decided to have them later. But that is, as you say, a generalization. Not all women do, and there's nothing wrong or abnormal with it.

I agree. First of all. Women are humans. So why is it that it is "socially" and ok for a man to not want kids, but not for woman? I think that everyone has that right to make the decision. It isnt fair. I have three kids, and I wanted them but it isnt fair to push children on those who do not want them as much as it is unfair to sway those who want them on not having them. I have three and people constantly tell me to stop, but I think that whther you have no children or you have many it is up to the individual, and screw what others say! They have no right to tell you what to do with your life!

A lot of people assume that it's natural and right for a woman to have a baby and all women should, but I have serious doubts this is true. If it is so why are some women infertile? this doesn't make them any less of a woman than a woman who's had a baby and often the problem was created by nature too.
There are also all the cases of shocking neglect and abuse of young babies and children we constantly see in the media, if women are all biologically naturally loving mothers why do these situations occur? And wouldn't it have been better if these women had never had children?
The worlds economy is struggling to cope with the amount of people on this planet and half the world is starving as a result, I for one wouldn't be disappointed if I never have a child as at least I wouldn't have inflicted this nasty over crowded world on another person. I also wouldn't have contributed to the massive over crowding of our schools and hospitals and put more strain on our food resources.

In my opinion I find it annoying as well for anyone to even insult some one for making a decision that deals with their own life because they are not going to live their life therefore they need to accept it if one does not desire children the same as those who do want them. I do not believe anyone is a bad person or from the other world when they say they do not want children I have always understood that it is not for everyone just like anything else.

Amen, Sister! And furthermore, trying to tell me I'm denying my husband the chance to have a son is about as insulting to me as me telling you that your child is a Halloween mask with legs. I'm not missing out on anything in my life and constantly telling me that I'll regret my decision to get a ligation done just makes me want to smack the crap out of those do-gooder mothers who have nothing else better to do than talk about spit up and formula costs rising.

Not all women want children.

I happen to fit BOTH of those categories. I am a woman and do not ever wish to have a child or be a mother to anything without 4 legs and a tail.

'everyone suffers because she was forced to do something that'she just did not ever want to do. We have to admit'that not all women want children.and further more not all women are good mothers either. you must want to have kids and want to be a good mom before that could ever happen. The women who wantcareers and
not kids should be respected. that is their right. dont bug them
about it either.Women are not baby machines they are humans. let the moms who want to be moms do it, and thosewho do not leave them to their desires. simple if we would just follow it.
