potato chips? I have made my own French fries before, but I have never tried making my own potato chips. Have you ever tried making your own? How did they come out?

1. porcelina7776 (230) | 4 months ago | WOW I haven't done that in several years. From what I can remember they turned out pretty tasty! I think i might try and make some soon. Don't think I will fry them though, maybe oven bake.

lilybug (8838) | 4 months ago | My grandma fried her potatoes in half oil and half margarine. They came out really good every time.

mommyboo (1527) | 4 months ago | I used to make a breakfast dish which included shredded potato. I haven't made it in a long time but I would peel and shred a fresh potato into a hot pan after I'd cooked bacon in it. I'd cook up the shredded potato until it started getting a little crispy. Then I'd remove it and scramble up some eggs, add cheese and veggies, then when almost done, I'd fold in the shredded potatoes and crumbled bacon and add about a tablespoon of cream cheese. Really really good!

4. hiccup (4755) | 4 months ago | Wash the potatoes, leave the skins on and cut large thick chip/fries. Take your time and cook, Once done salt and use sour cream and chive as a dip for the chip/fries. So good, you will never go to McD again for fries, up size that, again. HICCUP/

phoenix25 (837) | 4 months ago | McDonald's fries are SO nasty. Last time I went there, I tried the fries and they tasted like barely salted bits of cardboard. Totally gross.... I have just stopped eating them if I go to McDonald's. I agree with you. Homemade is much better.

mommyboo (1527) | 4 months ago | McDonalds is hit or miss. When the fries are fresh, they are fantastic - unless their frying oil is very old and they didn't replace it when they were supposed to. I worked at a McDonald's my senior year of high school so I remember a little bit about it. I have a proven way to get fresh fries. Go through the drive through to order. Tell them that you are ordering for somebody who is on a sodium restricted diet and you need french fries without salt. Let them know you don't mind waiting an extra few minutes. They will drop a fresh batch of fries to cook for you and you'll get them fresh. Just make sure you have a salt shaker or packets somewhere in your car so after you drive away, you can salt your fries while they are still nice and hot and the salt sticks to them LOL!

5. phoenix25 (837) | 4 months ago | Well, I used to slice potatoes into thin slices and fry them instead of doing something like mashed potatoes or french fries with dinner. The thinner ones would come out crispy like potato chips, so I started doing them like they. They were good. I would sprinkle them all with Tony Chachere's cajun seasoning, so they were just a little spicy. I haven't made them in a while, but now that I have a new Fry Daddy, I just might have to try making them again.

lilybug (8838) | 4 months ago | My brother makes them out of sweet potatoes and sprinkles them with cajun seasoning. I have never had them, but he swears that they are awesome.

phoenix25 (837) | 4 months ago | I would try those because they do sound good, but my husband hates sweet potatoes, so I'm the only one who would eat them. I'm sure the sweet potato chips would also be really good with a bit of cinnamon sugar sprinkled on them instead of cajun seasoning.

mommyboo (1527) | 4 months ago | I am addicted to Tony's seasoning. My best friend hooked me on it and now I have two containers in my spice cabinet. I have also had sweet potato fries and they are good, I didn't make them myself, I got them frozen premade at Costco but we all liked them.
