Butterfly

I have hardly seen any butterflies so far this year, the only thing that I have seen lots of in my garden are spiders. There are absolutely hundreds of them, luckily not always the huge monster ones but the little money spiders. Everytime I peg my washing out in the garden I always end up covered in them, I really hate the feel of their web on my skin. Great picture of the butterfly by the way.

Oh goodness, I'm glad you give them their privacy so they could finish what they were doing before you got your camera. hahahahaha

How cool. I love butterflies, they are such beautiful creatures. Don't they have really short lifespans though? And, if you touch their wings they live even shorter time? Or is that just an old wives tale?

That is a Mourning Cloak butterfly, and I think you did a nice job with the picture. It is no wonder you have lots of butterflies, with all the flowers you grow. Some butterfly gardens could take a lesson from you.

That is a very pretty butterfly for sure... I haven't seen anything like that around my area either... I just did a image search on what the lady said above me and what kind it is... It sure looks exactly the same so I don't believe it is.. We have the typical kinds of butterflies.

Oh my!! I just love butterflies and dont see them as much as I would like to around my yard . I was thinking about getting one of those butterfly bushes . When I go hiking I always seem to run ito them . Lovely pic

That is a beautiful butterfly. I dont have to many of them in my yard right now, but I sure have bees.I wish it was butterflys instead.

I'll have to dig out my Audubon book of insects as maybe I'll be able to identify what butterfly that is. We don't have to many colorful butterflies here, just plain white or yellow ones, but every once in a while will see really beautiful ones....usually around September one sees the Monarch butterflies since they are then making their flight down south...This photo I have here is of an American Black Swallowtail that I "rescued"--yup...for some reason it couldn't fly well, so I didn't want to see it squished or something so took it home with me...it only lived over night, so guess it was an old butterfly on it's way out..but sure was able to take some great photos of it while it lived..This is a picture of it outside my apt. building just before I "rescued" it from dangers...hehe

Hello dear Grandpa Bob. Quite often I can see butterflies flying around among the trees and grasses. They love to chase each other like a couple in love. I am so sorry that you missed snapping the wonderful time they are having. lol. Happy posting.
