Norton is good, but I prefer the anti-virus software from trendmicro called Trend Micro Internet Security (PC-cillin).

It would be hard to recommend Norton Anti-Virus as I think it has a lot of issue with using System Resources and makes you PC run a lot slower. I use AVG Anti-Virus and the new version 8 (free to download) seems to do the job for me. When it is scanning though it takes a while as it scans for spyware as well. If the link scanner is active it slows down your web surfing a bit as well.

Ever since using AVG, I think I have only ever had one or two viruses. There is so much anti-virus, anti-spyware anti-this and anti-that makes you wonder how much protection you actually need.

For me AVG 8.0 is the best Anti virus it even has a anti spyware, e-mail scanner and Link Scanner for added protection, I've been using it for about four months now and I think I'm fully secured and my PC runs smoothly and there no indication of any spyware and virus on it. Norton is good, but it is also very bad. It will take up a lot of your memory, and it will make your system SSSSLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW, real slow.

Well, if you system is very "capable", you can try it, else, get some lighter weight antivirus. AVG, avira are good ones, and free!!!

I live and swear by AVG, it is a great system and best of all it is free!

I have had Norton, McAfee, and others and every one of them had their drawbacks but AVG I have not had a single problem with.

So if you want my honest opinion then I would have to say AVG as it has never did me wrong and it is free.

No Norton Antivirus isnt the best for PCs, its good for business purposes etc. but if you're searching for a good standalone PC antivirus then you should opt for AVG 8. Its the best, never slows down your PC infact speeds it up. Never hangs the PC. Cleans every single frame bit. Provides Internet security. Updates are smaller in size and fast. Highly recommended by PC world magazine and other magazines.

norton is very good option. macfee is also a good option. but i have a question do you use those antivirus true licence copy or pirated. if pirated then i want give you some suggation. leave those pirated cpoy. there are many free anti virus in the market, like avg, avaira, avast. now i'm using avg. its works great. if you want to know what is the effective anti virus in this year then you read the pc world magazine. they ranked those antivirus. and if you browse carefully then you have no problem with those anti virus. buddy please stop piracy. thanks you..
