How do you handle former friends who delete you? |
|
I have noticed that I do not receive notifications from certain newer friends here. When I saw their newly started discussions, I checked... they deleted me. Since I have so many dear friends here whom I have grown do fond of, it does not matter to me and that they seldom respond to my discussions anyway. Maybe, I'll go back to the new discussions corner to look for discussions to reply to! The reason they deleted me, I think, was that they do not agree to my responses in their discussions (Hey, I am responding to almost all of their discussions!). I hate it when some discussions here are not well thought of and/or impart wrong information. I may be harsh but I just want others to know what is right by putting links? Other nationalities will just laugh at them, and will generalize it as common to our race. That is life. It seems, we are really a divisive race, that is why we are going nowhere. (That is a side comment!) I do not want to turn this into a rant. I just want to thank them for giving me a topic to start a discussion with! LOL! For me, it is good riddance!

1. Katesmama (3232) | 4 months ago | Yes, good ridence to them, pal! I've been deleted by a few, but surely it was due to some silly reason, like gossip, or somehting I said that someone found offensive. I'm at a point now that unless I really really know the person, I don't accept any new friend requests from people under 500 posts. I jsut don't wanna cloud up the friend list with inactives. I think that once folks get to know me and see that I am mulitfaceted human being with a bit of seriousness and a whole lot of snarky, they get the picture and learn to love me. If not, that's perfectly fine too. Good luck pal!

everlasting (10037) | 4 months ago | Whew! I thought I was the only one! I think we can not satisfy everybody here. I am not here to compete (thank goodness for that!) and if they want to, all they have to do is tell me! LOL! Good luck, too, dear friend! I know you have some problems here, too!

2. kerriannc (1730) | 4 months ago | There will always be misunderstanding were responding to discussion is concern but it is how you can get around putting it back to positiveness. Yesterday I respond to two discussions and was taken the wrong way. After reading to their comments I realized what was the problem and straighten that out. You see whenever I respond to a discussion I always go back to see if there is a response and then clarify any misgiving. We are all from different cultures and have different personalities and this is what makes MYLOT the enjoyable site it is but when differences arises we should always make sure it is out in the open and move on. I don't believe in deleting friends especially if they are always responding to me. Since joining MYLOT I have only deleted one person and it was because she has never respond to my discussion and when I asked her for guidance here in MYLOT seeing that I was new, she was all negative and telling me to be an adult. So I deleted her. My friend list is full and still most of them don't respond in my discussion and I still move on. The thing is alot of persons does not know the meaning of friendship. All the best.

everlasting (10037) | 4 months ago | Well said, kerriannc! The ones I am referring to is from my own country. There is no point in clearing up the issue because they already responded in finality. So be it. The thing is, if they can not handle the differences in ideas here, I think this is not for them. These immature mylot users are cause of disturbances here.

3. oneandonemakesix (24158) | 4 months ago | I have had some people delete me, and its not big deal, and if I run into a discussion of theirs that I like I respond to it, he, its no big deal, You know, I think dMoochifferences are good, and it helps us learn about people and others, one thing I've learned here in the year that I've been here is that no matter what the difference is people just want to be accepted for who they are and what they beleive, even if it is the total opposite spectrum of what I believe. everlasting (10037) | 4 months ago | Yeah, I agree with you here. Some really stayed here because they are accepted even if our beliefs are poles apart. I like the camaraderie here with friends who matured as mylot users. They knew what really matters here.

4. thebeaddoodler (1478) | 4 months ago | As far as someone deleting you from their friends list, I don't see that there is anything to handle. I haven't ever deleted a friend, but I've turned off notice, because the discussion load got so heavy I couldn't handle it during the summertime. People may not have much in common with you and don't enjoy your discussions. So be it! We all have different views and interests. It's really not a bad thing to be deleted. You still have friends who can join into a lively discussion on whatever you're interested in.:)

everlasting (10037) | 4 months ago | Yeha, I have friends here from way back. What I mean by handle is when you come across their discussions, will you still respond to it? As for me, for the meantime, I wont respond yet but maybe after the issue had died down, i can respond again.
| |
|
|
thebeaddoodler (1478) | 4 months ago | I hope you don't let this keep you from responding to a discussion that you have valuable info on just because it was started by someone who deleted you as a friend. That's what myLot is all about, gathering information. If they haven't made rude responses to your comments, possibly they had other reasons for deleting you as a friend. I know sometimes it's hard to get past something that seems like a deliberate snub, but let it settle a while, and hopefully you'll be able to feel comfortable joining their discussions.

5. gemini_rose (7982) | 4 months ago | To be honest with you I am pretty sure that I may have been deleted off a few lists myself as I see the discussions but I never get the notifications! But to be honest it does not bother me either, I still will answer to the discussions if they interest me enough! No one can get rid of me that easily LOL.

6. TheSpy (3383) | 4 months ago | Hi My Star: I only would delete a friend who hasn't responded to my last 3 discussions. I would check to see if they have responded to other members discussions first. I would never do it because I didn't agree with them. I wouldn't worry over it at all you have a lot of friends that love you. Ivor

7. arkaf61 (4620) | 4 months ago | HOnestly, for the most part I don't really care. Maybe they thought that we had similar views and learned differently and prefer not to clog their notifications with my discussions, maybe they changed their mind.... I don't really take it personally. I love this place but prefer not to take it too personally or seriously, I find it better this way. I have formed a few more serious friendships in here, but as a rule I treat this site lightly and do not allow it to affected me negatively. Every once in a while I go trough my friends list and go trough the discussions they started. If the discussions are the kind of discussions that interest me or that I enjoy I turn the notifications on for that friend. If the person has not been active for more than 5 months, I usually delete her/him. I find the list of friends hard to manage as it is,and as a rule people that haven't logged in for that long probably won't come back. THe rest of the people on my friend's list have the notifier off. It doesn't mean that I won't participate in their discussions. Each day that I am here and I have time, I go to the "discussions my friends started" section and answer them. Well ... as you say they did give you a topic to start a discussin, that works:)
