Are you interested in chinese?

I have always liked the Chinese people, they are so quiet gentle people and so hard working, I think the language would be hard to learn, I just learnt to say hello in chinese so I could greet the chinese people in a local nursing home I used to go to.

Hello dear shoffy. I have to say that there is no problem for me to understand Chinese together with its culture, as I am a native Chinese speaker. Yeah, it is a little bit difficult for foreigners to learn Chinese. You know why it is a little difficult? First, you know, Chinese characters have so many strokes and its pinying has four basic sounds excluding the fifth one, the weak one. If a non-Chinese learner can master these two parts, it will be much easier for them to learn the language well. I don't know what a pinyin is, and to think I'm already an asian. hehe.

I am interested in China and chinese, especially the stories, legends, myths, and such. China really has these beautiful stories, and most of them have moral lessons. I am also interested in feng shui, and how most of them are just common sense rather than superstition that everyone thinks it is. The architecture is also something else, very rich. And the food, I love eating chinese food.

What I find most difficult and something I am not so interested in is the language. It is so difficult, I've heard.

I hope you won't mind me mentioning, but I'm interested in japanese too. Japan and China are usually compared, with their similarities and differences. It's actually fun learning about these. And also because japanese language isn't as difficult as Chinese, I've already started learning it.

Chinese is pretty simple after you practice the four basic tones in pinyin. The characters are even easier, you just have to practice a lot. (I have to admit that some character do look similar though, so beware of that.) I do agree with your teacher though. It's tough for foreigners to understand pinyin. Although, the people in the same class as me seems to make it through fine. I hope this helps~

I'm chinesse but I live in Indonesia. I can speak Mandarin and Cantonese but I found it's hard for me to write and read chinesse language. I think it's the most difficult part for me. I learned it for a while and understand some simple words and nouns like "wo, ni,..." Other words are more than difficult. I think if I want to learn it, I will have to take 3 years to completely understand how to read and write.:)
