rattlesnake bites man in Florida Walmart |
|
What a lovely place for a rattlesnake to be, in a walmart and I'm sure it could have happened anywhere but its a great reason for me not to shop at walmart all the more. Rattlesnakes are one of 6 poisonous snakes in Florida, and fortunately the Pygmy Rattlesnake, the one that bit the man rarely is fatal, but still that's enough to creep me out. http://www.local6.com/news/16803817/detail.html I am fortunate enough to say that I have never been bitten, and hope to keep it that way, I have a deathly fear of snakes as it is, so I might not visit garden centers in Walmart anymore. I'm not sure what happened to the snake but i hope it got killed and I hope that the store keeps an eye out for it. If someone got bit by a snake at your local walmart would you ever go back to that store again? Mooch

But I am not sure how I would feel if something like that happened nearby. I would probably still go, as I feel I almost have to due to the cost of food these days.

Considering that they have a garden center, they should have employees that are trained to deal with spiders, snakes, and other things you would find around any garden. I personally am not afraid of such animals but I do believe they should be kept out of stores like that.

4. photographygirl73 (1462) | 4 months ago | Yes I guess I would, but I am not so sure I would step foot in the garden center ever again. I know they can't really help it if a snake gets in there, but they need to find a better way to keep them out. Thats very dangerous for both employees & customers as well.

7. trickiwoo (768) | 4 months ago | Yikes!! That's scary! We have wild bears living in the woods behind the Walmart in my town. And sometimes they wander around the parkinglot and stuff. But none of them have ever attacked anyone before!

zhuuraan (293) | 4 months ago | Wild bears? Wow I have never seen one of those up close lol. Only on TV. Hehe I personally think it is kind of cool being able to be so close to wildlife, especially if you can coexist without either attacking the other.

8. shooie (3306) | 4 months ago | You never know where or when a rattlesnake will be or a black widdow or a rat or a roach or or. You could go into a high dollar or high end stores garden center and a rattlesnake or something could be there. If we worried about everything we read or heard we probably wouldn't go out anymore. But then again hey rattlesnakes can get in your house or even black widow spiders so you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

zhuuraan (293) | 4 months ago | This is a very good point too, especially for Florida or California or wherever you are, especially if you are in snake territory. They can be anywhere. And, as I said in another post, they are not the invaders, we are.

10. GardenGerty (14049) | 4 months ago | All one summer my hubby did plant merchandising at three Home Depot Stores. He said they had snakes that would come in and hide under the pallets to get out of the heat. It does not creep me out. I guess I would be bothered if they were rattlers, On the other hand, if it was a rattler, why did he not hear it. I will have to say that my grandparents had a ranch in south easter Oklahoma, and we had snakes often. They scared grandma, and we always said that is why she found them most often.
