Help! I am craving Dairy Queen ice cream! |
|
I'm sure many of you are counting fats, calories, Weight Watcher points, or whatever. I have done a good job at losing weight, although I still have 20 more pounds to lose to get to my goal. Anyhoo, I have been craving Dairy Queen ice cream for 2 days! And, I can tell you, it is starting to annoy me. I am not quite sure what to do--go ahead and eat a little bit of it to satisfy the craving? Or, keep avoiding it and hoping the craving will eventually go away. In the meantime, I want my DQ! How do you handle it when you have food cravings?

1. stagewhisper (704) | 2 months ago | Would having ice cream at home help you with your craving? If so, then check out the Skinny Cow or Blue Bunny ice creams available- some of them are only 50 calories a serving! I'm not sure how that translates into points, but you shouldn't completely cut yourself off from ice cream. You should be able to indulge a little without using all your points up in a day. Hope this helps!

PearlGrace (1252) | 2 months ago | Hello stagewhisper. I like your Skinny Cow idea. I am out of those right now (Hmm, I wonder if there's a connection between that fact and the fact that I'm craving ice cream). I do think having ice cream of any sort might help to curb my craving. I like the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and they are only 2 points. Also, there are some 100 calorie (2 pt.) ice cream rounds, dipped in chocolate that are pretty good. Maybe a trip to the store instead of DQ is what I need. Thanks for your suggestions, stagewhisper. Take care.

2. snowy22315 (4736) | 2 months ago | I dont know if this helps at all, but DQ does have some sugar free items. I think they have sugar free dilly bars and possibly some other things as well. You could go check it out and if you absolutley have to have soemthing you could maybe get a small cone or something.

PearlGrace (1252) | 2 months ago | Hello snowy22315. Hmm, I could get a small dish of vanilla for 5 points (Weight watchers). That's not too bad. I didn't know they had sugar free dilly bars, I'll have to check in to that. I have had their lemon ice bars or whatever they call them. They aren't too bad. But, right now, it's the ice cream I am craving. Yes, I think a small cone is also 5 points, so that's a good suggestion also. Thanks for your response.

PearlGrace (1252) | 2 months ago | Hi desertdarlene. Yes, thanks for reminding me that I can have what I want, just do it within reason. I am feeling better about the craving right at this moment than I was this afternoon. Plus, we're taking a trip in 2 days and I know we will be eating more than we usually do and not as healthy as we do at home. Thanks for your input on this one. Yes, lower calorie and lower fat items are the key to maintaining my weight and health. Take care.

PearlGrace (1252) | 2 months ago | Hello jillhill. I would love to give in to my DQ cravings, believe me. But we will be going to Vegas in 2 days and I KNOW I'm gonna be eating big time! So, I gotta shake this DQ thing, and quick. Yes, I've lost over 25 lbs. and kept it off. Some days are tougher than others. I feel about 10 times better. Plus, it's much easier to walk the treadmill and swim now. Get back on that horse, jillhill! You can do it. Take care.

5. Xdrowninghavocx (2897) | 2 months ago | I wasn't even thinking about Dairy Queen. Of course now I am, lol. I've tried to concentrate on losing a few pounds, but it doesn't really seem worth it anymore. I miss drinking my soda by the liter. And fasting only leads to being twice as hungry. It must be frustrating to count calories, lol. I've never went that far before.

PearlGrace (1252) | 2 months ago | Hello Xdrowninghavocx. Sorry if I got you thinking about DQ. I seem to be over it right this minute. I only drink 1 serving of soda a week and it is diet. I like Diet IBC Root Beer and have it as my once a week treat. I went off soda after learning that the carbonation leeches the calcium out of my bones. I had just been diagnosed with osteopenia (what you get before you have osteoporosis). Anyhoo, I tend to use Weight Watcher points' method to keep my eating under control. And it works pretty well, but I still have cravings. I just made up my mind quite some time ago, that I wasn't going to be really heavy. I still am about 20 lbs. over what I should be. I'm working to get some of that off as well. I wear a pedometer and try to keep moving as much as I can. Thanks for your response and take care.
