What does it mean to be married?

Sometimes you can be honest, but nothing changes anyway. Trying to communicate is probably the best thing you can do anyway. I dont know what else would work except maybe a board upside the head! just kidding he, he, he, haha.

I agree that honesty is important. Although, I think acceptance is equally as important. Accepting what you discover about each other as you grow together in your marriage is one of the keys to a blissful union. There are some things that we can change for the better. And there are some things that we cannot. We just have to accept and learn to live with it--be it a bad habit or a principle opposing your own. There is no perfect marriage. Being married means constantly nurturing the relationship you started and moving on to a higher, more difficult yet more meaningful and fulfilling level.

Being married is a partnership. Jobs and tasks are not the same within a marriage, but both are equally important. Marriage may change passion, but I do not think it eliminates it. In a marriage, the passion should be for the "we-ness" The US of the marriage. The previous passion, the before marriage passion, often seems to be for the ME of the person. Yes, you have to be honest, truthful, and fair. The Bible says "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for it." That is the scripture that often gets ignored by the people who want to major on the first part, "Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands." Submission is to use whatever talents you have to make the relationship flourish. If you are the better planner, then you should do the planning, if you are the higher earner, then you should do the earning. Both members need to pour themselves into a marriage, with a passion for the one flesh they have become. Sorry, I seem to be on a soapbox.

Love is the number one and, in my opinion, the only meaning if ones wants a "life long" marriage. Here is a question that has a multitude of answers...
Do you love your spouse enough to ...
1- be totally honest?
2- to share your deepest inner thoughts?
3- disagree without fighting?
4- accept that you are both different?
5- compromise when you feel you shouldn't have too?
6- work when they don't?
7- to forgive when asked to do so?
and on and on.

Being married means loving someone enough to continue to love them through all of life's ups and downs.

I agree with you this is how i feel,dont cheat on me,dont lie to me,dont hit me,dont cuss me,and you never really know if they love you or not you can the say the words but you have to really mean it when you say it.being married is a give and take not just take and take,when a man most of all can look you in the eye and say i love you with all my heart and not look around,fiddle with some thing or look down then i might just believe him.Most people take marriage for granted nope you alwyas have to be on your toes all the time and stay one step ahead of the man.

yes honesty but respect also is a big one, without respect anything goes, I think.
