A Sight I Thought I'd Never See...

I'm glad you were ok after what could have been something really bad. And, I have never heard of whatever that was! LOL!

The weird thing about the tornado the hubby and I saw was that there were no indications that there was even the potential for a tornado. And, everything you ever read or hear about as far as the signs of tornado potential, didn't happen. It wasn't raining or hailing and, there wasn't the weird stillness. But, it did happen. I do think the lack of all of those other signs may have been the reason it didn't get strong enough to sustain itself for more than about 15 or so seconds, or do any damage.

Wow! I would have been terrified during both of those moments!

Back in the spring, we had about 4 or so hours of tornado warnings for my area and, I know what you mean about the sky being literally black and rolling like that.

I can imagine the lake and the swans were probably really picturesque. Sort of beauty in chaos.

Wow! That must have been terrifying. And, having seen the end result of a tornado and what it can do to a house from footage on the news after tornadoes hit, I can understand why you wouldn't feel safe even though you were in your house. You were lucky that roof missed your house! I'm glad you survived it!

Grandpa Bob, I will look forward to reading your tornado chasing story! In fact, once the tornado the hubby and I saw dispersed, we went driving around in search of more! LOL! Lunacy! LOL!

Yikes! I couldn't live where you live. We get threats several times every year in my area and, that is bad enough. And, we did have a wind so bad, which we aren't even sure it may not have been a mini twister, that knocked a tree down in my backyard and hit my house. It was a huge oak tree and, we were fortunate because the way the tree hit the house at first actually broke a branch and knocked the tree away a little. It still did some damage to my house but, if that branch hadn't broken and knocked it away from my house a little, it might have crashed into my bedroom decapitating my hubby and I as we slept in our bed. It happened 7 years ago on Mother's Day. No one knows if it was a mini twister or just a really bad wind gust but, we were not the only ones in my subdivision that day with tree damage to our house from that wind.

I'll be looking for that discussion about the tornado in your area and the one you chased. And, I am glad that you have stayed safe!

LOL! It was scary! But, also fascinating! LOL! And, I can't imagine that hiding in a gas station bathroom was fun! Ewwww! LOL! I'm glad that you were safe though! And, you try to keep away from them too! I wouldn't want you missing BB10 either! Among other things! Like Savanna and the rest of your family!

I'm glad you weren't hurt! And, if you look above a little, in response to Grandpa Bob's response, I talk about a tree that was knocked down by either a mini twister or a really bad wind burst, that hit my house. Those trees and wind! Sheesh! LOL!

I have to admit...it was cool! LOL! Scary as heck and, if it got any closer, I might have had to change my shorts but, it was cool nonetheless! LOL! And, of course, I think the thing that kept it at cool instead of traumatizing was the fact that it didn't do any damage. So, I completely know where you are coming from. They are fascinating. They are a crazy, terrifying, but fascinating act of nature and, they can make a person very curious.

Hey Natrak! Yea, we get lots of tornado threats around my area but, I have never seen any of them before. And the one the hubby and I saw wasn't expected. I don't think that people thought the conditions were right for it and, we haven't seen any reports of it either. I know other people on the road had to have seen it but, I think that, of those of us who saw it, none of us called in to report it! LOL! Probably because it didn't do any damage and was here and gone in such a short period of time. But, it was fascinating! Mind blowing! And, it did teach me a little something that, while I understood it and I have always had a healthy respect for the damage a tornado can cause and how quickly they do their damage, I never knew how very fast they move. That thing was hauling butt! So, when the news people say to get to a safe place, they mean it. You don't have time to think, breath or hesitate because they are not there one second and there the next and they move unbelievably quickly.

And, you said it! There ain't nothing like nature's wonders. LOL!

It really was exciting! It was terrifying because until it just dissipated, we didn't know how big it was going to get and, until my hubby told me it was probably about a mile and a half or 2 miles from us, I thought it was much closer. And Thank You! I am glad nothing happened to my hubby and I, or anyone else!
