Qualities a Leader should Have

3. preoccupation with a role - a dedication that consumes much of leaders' life - service to cause

5. results-orientation - directing every action towards a mission - prioritizing activities to spend time where results most accrue

7. optimism - very few pessimists become leaders
8. rejection of determinism - felief in one's ability to make a difference

I believe a leader should have confidence. Without confidence the people following the leader won't have any confidence in the leader. A leader should be able make decisions and then stand by them. This coincides with being confident with the actions that you take. Being organized should be an obvious trait a leader should have. Also, being able to delegate is one of the biggest characteristics a leader should have. A leader is not someone who can do every one's job for them. A leader is someone who can hold people accountable and make sure the job gets done right. A leader is the face of whatever he is leading, be it an organization, a team, a group, etc. So his or her actions reflect upon the entire group he or she is the leader of. A leader should be able to gain respect from his or her peers and be able to give respect to his or her peers.
