Ask what it looks like (if it will scare you to death nobody will want to use it), also find out how it works example: does the client give it instructions and it obeys or does it take the request to a real human who then carries it out? Will there be a real live human overseeing the gadget or are you totally at the mercy of a machine?

Hi Marleysa, You need to make questions that don't need only YES or NO as a reply. Try to make the questions in the open way so people can answer what they think and why. Here some suggestions:
1) Do you think that AI is a good thing for humanity? Why?
2)What you will feel if a robot come to serve you in a hospital?
3)Do you let a robot take care about your children?
4)Do you think that robots deserve more confidence that humans?
5) Do you think that a robot can make a better work than a human?

Concerning the idea of artificial intelligence, some people are afraid that robots may eventually become "self-aware" and then be able to ignore and operate independently of their human creators. Ask how they promote their idea to people who have this fear. How do you reassure the people that a robot becoming "self-aware" could never happen?

Since the robots are going to be used in hospitals they will come in contact with both the hospital staff and most importantly the patients. So you should ask if the robots will be present during operations, even the non life threatening ones, as some people might feel uncomfortable about this. Also if the patient or his/her family will have a word if they want a robot to be present at that time or not. In case there will be a robot present during an operation, what kind of malfunction prevention measures have they employed in order for problems to be avoided. Have all the necessary tests been done, and how were they carried out. People need to feel secure when it comes to issues like this.
Since there are a lot of people that watch too many films and read Sci-Fi BOOKS and/or are influenced by them, you might want to ask how they plan to introduce the robots to the public and introduce them as an useful, reliable, human-friendly and foremost as a safe addition to any hospital.
You also shouldn't forget the techies. Maybe ask how the interactions are carried out, about the robots' sensors, their learning and knowledge-base system, how they do reasoning and problem solving, etc.

What about asking how advanced the robot is? ie: does it have the capacity to process and learn from information it takes in?

Could you absolutley reassure the public that the Robot/s could or would not 100% eventualy have a mind of their own

How would the robot/s react to a blackout in the hospital

What would happen if they broke down-hopefully not in during an operation

How will people especially older people react to them in hospital helping them with their luggage if in a ward serving dinners etc

Artificial Intelligence, is perhaps, a misnomer. We have games and devices such as the hospital porters you mention that are referred to as possessing 'intelligence' I have even heard of washing machines referred to as 'intelligent.'

We need to stop and take stock of what is meant by the use of this word here. I would suggest that all that is meant is that some daedalakind device is constructed such that it reacts in a manner that is desirable to its creator in response to a change in the environment.

Now, consider the humble thermostat, you probably have one, if you have central heating, a fridge, a freezer, an oven or a car. In its simplest form this consists of a bimetalic strip which, due to the differential expansion of the two metals of which it is composed, bends in response to a change in temperature. Now it is arranged such that as it bends it makes or breaks an electrical contact. Thus it reacts in an appropriate manner to an change in the environment and so would fit the criteria above of possessing intelligence!

This reductum ad absurdum shows the danger in the casual use of such terms. There is a good test for any claimant to artificial intelligence and that is the Turing Test, named after the Alan Turing who developed the theory that allowed the development of all modern programmable computers.

What would happen if the robot were to have a malfunction?? Is it a safe machine, and would it be referred to as a machine?? I would love to know the answers to these questions.. How much would it cost??
