1. spalladino (3268) | 3 months ago | I think that robots have a place in some fields but I can't imagine a robot providing customer service or dealing with accounts receivable and payable without a human counterpart standing by. I also don't think robots could be teachers, police officers, or repair technicians of any kind. Also, website design...since mylot has this cool new look..would still have to be done by humans because that takes creativity.

2. cobrateacher (1544) | 3 months ago | I remember hearing about this half-a-century ago, and I did expect not to do anything without robots by now. More and more, however, I think people understand the power of humanity, and we use robots for only the most tedious tasks. For example, most cars are bilt, in part, by robots. Medical testing is performed, in many cases, by robot-like equipment. There are even robot discs that are supposed to vaccuum the floor. Still, humans can't be replaced in too many ways. We're not just capable; we can thin and be creative. Robots aren't up to the task yet.

Marleysa (2781) | 3 months ago | This is wrong information since my university is in the final stages of the development of artificial robots that are quite capable of "thinking and learning" by itself:) They will be launched in hospitals in Europe by the end of 2009:)

cobrateacher (1544) | 3 months ago | True. There are many excellent AI projects. What hasn't happened, and I don't think it will, is to have many jobs taken by robots. They're still Artificial Intelligence, and we humans are the real thing. Don't forget HAL!

Marleysa (2781) | 3 months ago | Let's hope what you say is true and the power hungry greedy owners of so many factories won't think they could make so much more with employees that do not need to go home after 8 hours, don't need medical care, don't need to take lunch, or take off to take the kids to the doctor, don't need a salary, pension, medical insurance or a vacation:)

cobrateacher (1544) | 3 months ago | Automobile manufacturers have done it, but they put people back on the line in some cases, because the robots were just not able to think critically enough!

3. sk66rc (1386) | 3 months ago | There few jobs that just can't be replaced by robots... Jobs where judgement, compassion, & other human emotions are involved, it's hard to be replaced... So far, machines are assisting in more & more fields, such as medicals & constructions, even at war... I think it would be long before robots or machines replace humans completely...

4. Marleysa (2781) | 3 months ago | You are so wrong Maximo! The medical field is exactly where my university has been busy developing artificial intelligent robots and it has already been tested in hospitals. They are just busy refining the smallest details and hope to launch them all over Europe in many hospitals by the end of 2009! They will help doctors, porters, nurses, security, cleaners, etc... This was done to combat the worl shortages we have of nurses and other hospital staff:)
