If you could have any exotic animal as a pet, what would you choose?  |

 This discussion assumes that you have a place to keep the animal you want and that there would be no legal ramifications.
Recently in Ontario a man was charged with unlawful possession of a wild animal. He apparently kept a full grown lion as a pet until it was picked up by the authorities after it escaped the compound where he kept it. He apparently treated the lion very well, and the lion was very tame. It was taken to a zoo in Quebec where the workers were amazed how friendly the lion was. Apparently he is doing very well in his new home, but the man in Ontario is trying to sue the zoo. Personally, I don't feel he has any grounds for suing them because it is dangerous to an exotic animal and to people around it if it is improperly kept. Even if it seems friendly, it can turn for no apparent reason. I think the lion was not abused but I think it will be more efficiently and safely kept in the zoo by people who are trained to do so.
If you could have any exotic animal, assuming there were no roadblocks to it, what kind of animal would you like to have? I think owning a tiger or lion would be really cool, or even a dolphin. It will probably never happen, but it's fun to think about. Some people like snakes or exotic insects. Some people like sea life or woodland dwelling animals. What would be your choice?

1.  setroc (660) | 2 months ago |  a bear, brown bear, i want it really huge, i know its dangerous but maybe if i get it really young, like cant even see yet kind of young maybe i can kill that killer instinct a little, i like bears specially the brown bear, the grizzly, they look so big yet not that ferocious looking compare to say a lion or any big cats, tigers no matter how tame have that blood thirsty look on them always, theyre never cute to me, thats why i like bears, they keep you in awe with their size yet it looks so dang cute and cuddly and fuzzy, im just imagining right now what would it feel like having a really domesticated bear that you can ride it around like horses, that would be nice

I guess part of the reason it's dangerous to tame baby wild animals is because if you do extinguish their killer extinct and there ever came a time they had to go back into the wild they would be at a big loss. They might starve or get attacked by something else and not know what to do about it. | |

I remember when Lucy would curl aroud my step-dad's neck, and rub the top of her head under his beard. LOL We all got a really big kick out o that. I miss that snake! I remember when Mom freaked to fid ou that Lucy esaped and got loose in the walls. hahahaha FUNNY STUFF!!!!

I hate snakes, although I am now able to bring myself to pat them or other reptiles provided there is a professional handler nearby. I would freak too if I knew the snake was loose in my walls. | |

3.  applefreak (1292) | 2 months ago |  wow this is like my wildest dream come true. i love animals of all kinds. if i can only choose one, i think i will take forever. there are just so many adorable animals out there. maybe i'll go for a panda. it looks so adorable and lazy, just like my longhair cat. or maybe i'll want a slow rolly. they look so cute as well. oh i'm really spoilt for choice. cheers;p
