Anger is a Great Self Motivator! |
|
Okay, when I get upset I do one of two things. I either break out the gloves and lysol and punish the house or I bake. It's an abnormally cool day today so the kitch lost. I've made a cake and the noticed we were out of bread so I made some sandwich bread (much like hamburger buns) for sandwiches. I'm thinking about a pie to but not sure what kind. I've got a can of peach pie filling, but hubby also picked me a buck lot of cherrys from on of our fields. Picture of the bread below. So, what do you do when you get mad? Are you a cleaning fool? Or do you cook? Or do you just want to be left alone?

Barb42 (1445) | 3 months ago | I have no idea what was going on yesterday! I was constantly hitting send with my comments, only to be sent right back to where I came from with a blank box again. It really upset me! I was constantly trying to remember what I had written. I think your first response is always best. And, unless you have copied it before hitting the send button, you never can get the same thoughts back on here.

2. kezabelle (1982) | 3 months ago | Oh definitley when im annoyed or find myself getting angry I find that cleaning the house is a great way to release some of the tension wear myself out so I cant be bothered to feel anygry anymore. For example my partner took the girls to his mums today left me with no cash no cards and the elctric meter ran out of money I was angry to put it midly anyway with nothing to do as all my work was on the laptop I cleaned up and made cakes (as gas was thankfully still on) my house is tidy and the girls loved the cakes and i forgot how annoyed I was but he was very sorry that helped too!

ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | Baking today did releave some of it, but the more that I see in here it all comes back again. See, a good friend of mine was banned yesterday and I spitting mad about it. She was the only one punished and there were several violations by several different members, but she is the only one that is being punished for it. Pretty sad isn't it.

4. xboxboy (1412) | 3 months ago | for the past 24 years i have worked in management. but i do not think i have ever been so angry as i was today when i got all the news of the past week. i would not have predicted how much the blood pressure would rise! so today at 3pm uk time i made my wife steak with a brandy sauce. since then i have been drinking the brandy and talking to friends by email. it is now 8:30pm and i am nearly out of brandy. but luckily i have spiced rum!!!! not a great way to deal with shite, but today is a bit of a shocker. not to worry, the wife is delighted with the early drinking time and is enjoying her rose wine. ps dinner was lovely! the sauce was devine!

ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | X I see you as nothing more than a sweetheart for how attentive you are to your family and friends. I was online with a friend till the wee hours of the morning just to make sure this was not a log in problem. Although our dear friend is not here, she can still see what is going on and she's told me the support and the outrage from other members here - actually shock is a better word - warms her heart completely.

5. Katlady2 (4036) | 3 months ago | When I get upset, it's usually the house that gets the "punishment" as well. Hubby knows that when I start slamming the dishes into the sink to wash them, either he or someone else is in big trouble. If I don't do any house cleaning, I just sit down and have a good cry.

ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | I don't like to cry, actually it makes me madder that I lost that control. I clean a lot, but baking today was the ticket. It did calm me and the children sure enjoyed the treats.

6. minnie_98214 (3944) | 3 months ago | I am just like you. When mad I will usually clean but being today it is windy and cool I decided to bake. I made some cookies and some bread so far but Im not done just yet. I need to get some milk to make my muffins but I cant find my keys.

ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | Seems like we're always out of bread and I had some high hope of making loaved bread, but ran out of yeast. Darn it! Anyway, I didn't get the pie done either, but the cake and sandwich bread did the trick today. I took out some cookie dough that I'm going to make cookies a little later. I didn't want push my luck with heating the house too much incase it decided to warm up today.

ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | Yeah I know what you mean. Exactly! Because I WANT to be mad too sometimes and don't want a person to coddle me and tell me it's going to be okay. I know it's going to be okay, but you won't be if you don't leave me alone.

8. danishcanadian (14553) | 3 months ago | Whn something annoys me, I si down at my computer, and I write it all down, then I send it to whoever's opinion miht matter in the situation. Ofte times that's just publishing it on some place like MyLot or Gather, and gettig a discussion going.
| |
| |
|
|
ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | That's very true. That is much like talking about it and getting it out that is a large part of releasing those frustrations. I've done that a few times here too.

9. nerdytina (1641) | 3 months ago | I like to wash dishes when I am angry. They pile up pretty quickly (even though there are only 2 of us here), so there is usually something for me turn to, if needed. If not the dishes, then I tidy up the kitchen counters and stove top--whatever botheres me about the place when I walk into it. My kitchen is about the size of a closet so I find that it seems like the most cluttered room; there's always something I can do to it when I'm annoyed. Sometimes I just like to pace when I'm angry. So it's either pacing or cleaning the kitchen. Depends on the situation or where I am, I guess.

ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | Today as I look back at all that I made, where it did calm me tremendously, it also benefited my family. So I guess it can get me going and actually turn into something productive too as long as I'm not inflicting my anger an another person and just baking or punishing the house.
| |
|
|
nerdytina (1641) | 3 months ago | Maybe that's part of why it relieves the anger--you know (though maybe not really on the surface at the time) that this is something good to do. So, in a way, it's an attempt to cancel out the anger by making something else better.
| |
|
|
ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | I agree. When I think of getting anger, I think that it's best to channel it into an activity than ranting and raving. I think it takes a lot of time to do that, but it is so much more poductive than directing it towards another person.

10. BCMike (1792) | 3 months ago | I go away and sulk. Normally I turn on the TV so that I can drown my anger and self pity seeing the daily doom and gloom reports that show me how small my troubles are compared to so many others. We all have troubles. The trick is to keep them in perspective.
| |
| |
|
|
ljegbers (5761) | 3 months ago | You are so right. I don't get mad too often. I think myself a pretty calm person, even if another person does something unfairly, I can keep my head to a certain point. Baking today helps expell a lot and really, it's a benefit to the household. Keep smiling!
