Is Microsoft's IE synonym for internet?

I am looking at the icon for internet here on mylot and I am thinking, is really Internet Explorer's icon right for this interest? I say - no. I agree that IE is used by the most internet users. But many also use Mozilla Firefox or Safari, so Internet Explorer is losing the fight. If I chose a logo for the internet here on my lot I would chose Google because google is something we all use (I hope we do...).
So what do you think, what would you choose for represent the internet?

HI Friend this is very nice to get a very good discussion. Internet is not only about internet explorer or mozilla or about any search engine like google.
internet is a network of many computers so the sign should be about some computers linked with other through networking. But use of IE logo looks not good because not all people use IE as their browser, these days mozilla and Safari are earning a lot of users.

Well I use Firefox myself but I think that since IE has been around for so long, it really is the symbol for internet if there is one. When I think of the internet an IE logo pops up into my head. Hope that helps
