Quiting smoking!

I have tried many times and usually I start again. Then I told myself I could do it but only when I drank. That didnt work either even it was only once a month or so. I meanthe next morning I would be craving one. My husband doesnt smoke and he is on me all the time. I have cut down and don't smoke at home as much anymore, but when I am at work I just can not go without one. It is so stressful. It is a horrible habit and I am glad you have had the will power to quit.

First of all, your family shouldn't be laughing at you. Smoking is a serious issue and they should be supporting you.

That infuriates me that instead of giving your their blessings and wishing the bless, they would just laugh in your face.

Besides, even though you said you would quit in the past and you didn't; smoking is hard to quit and I congratulate you on achieving your goal of quitting smoking. What does your family have to say about it now?

Don't face any temptations to smoke again. If you are ever offered to smoke, just use the term "no".

I'm glad the love towards your daughter is stronger than the love of smoking. When your healthy daughter gets older, tell her what you did for her to live a healthy live so she can appreciate your accomplishments.

Congrats to you on quiting! And congrats for sticking to it. I have not smoked or never have been a drinker of alcohol other than once or twice a yeras, (Christmas, New Years or my birthday) having a drink or two.
I don't have any vices. But I commend you for your efforts and stamina.
My mother and others in the family have quit or tried to quit smoking. I see what my mother went through when she quit. It was hard and even now years(8) later she has a yearn for smoking once in awhile, but has never given in.
We as a family are the support for all that try to quit smoking.

I have never been able to quit, I've only tried twice. Neither time with much conviction clearly!

It's funny, I keep saying that I will quit if I ever get pregnant. But I have NO PLANS to get pregnant anytime soon! And all the women I know who quit smoking while pregnant started again right after giving birth, so I don't know how effective that would be, LOL.

Either way, CONGRATULATIONS! I like hearing people's stories about successfully quitting!!

That was so wonderful of you to do that for your wife and your new baby girl. I wish I could have the courage like you have to quit cold turkey as you did. I have been smoking since the age of 13 and I have tried several times to quit and no luck. I really need to because I have diabetes and high blood pressure, I have recently been diagnosed with having Lupus. Congratulations!Quiting smoking is very difficult to do. I should know, I've been a smoker for the past 7 years. I had recently quit smoking because it was making me really sick. It only lasted for 3 months though. I used the patch this time but I didn't find that it was all that useful. I've tried the gum too. It just makes me crave it more.
I came into a lot of trouble in June. Things just all colided in a negative way so I started smoking again. For two weeks I would bum smokes. Two weeks ago I broke down and bought my own pack.
How did you do it? Cold Turkey? What worked for you.

Good job for fighting through that! That is not right for people to be laughing at you about a great thing your doing to help change your life. Try to find a place in your heart to forgive your family, sometimes family can be really mean to you.

My best support is my wife

I was smoking for over twenty years, and became a chain smoker the last five years. Then I made a decision to stop. I did it in just one day, and that's it. It is gone now for ever! It requires determination, not for any one, but for myself! That was my way of stopping smoking.

Its about my husband. He was into smoking, not a lot say 5 cigarettes a day. That too not at home but at office. I used to remind him of leaving smoking but i never forced him to. Because forcing a person is of no use as he/she would smoke when you are not around. Now he does not smoke at all. He left it at his free will and so i dont need to keep track of wether he is smoking or not.
It is a great effort from your side to stop smoking, i know it is not that easy a job to do. But the love of your daughter is more than the love of cigarettes! You will be tempted, life is all about temptations BUT it is entirely on you how you handle situations. Wish you luck. Happy No Smoking!!!!!
