 Do you think it is possible to truly have a friend over the internet that you have never met?... I mean think about it... I guess we would come to know these friends by the ideas that they portray online to us... but how would we ever know they are being truthful with us?.... in this world of betrayal and unjust it is hard to tell whether people may be befriending us for the right reasons... anyone else had this problem?

1.  lilaclady (16223) | 3 months ago |  I think knowing anyone we meet in any circumstances can be a risk, a lot of people put on a falce front when meeting people, I think the only way I would really meet someone on the internet is maybe in a forum in a group meet, then you can sus people out without really meeting someone on a one to one meeting...

I mean, don't get me wrong, I have met lots of great floks on the computer, but there is just some part of me that wonders if the person I am talking to is really the nice person they seem to be, or if they are just putting on an act.. I guess my faith in people's honesty has just been demolished over the years from the outrageousness of a few people's actions! | |

| 2. sugarplum9084 (863) | 3 months ago |  It is very very possible! I met my best friend, who is now my boyfriend, on the internet, he is from Sweden. We met on a language learning website, and we instantly were interested in each other as friends, over time though we started to fall for each other. And now we go back and forth to meet each other, and he was the same person as he was online, very truthful and genuine. Not even a week ago he was visiting, and stayed at my home for a month. Next visit I will go to Sweden December-January! Good friends are possible on the internet, it just happens on accident, I never intended on falling in love online, and I was always cynical about it before, and still am:p

None of us really know what is going to happen with online friends but we keep responding and have lot of laaughs and take advice and gave advice and sometimes we get meet them and become real friends so don't go worrying about if they are been truthful about themselves just be happy and enjoy having frrendship this way,o.k.

| amanda08 (163) | 3 months ago | thank you for your response.... well it's not that I am concerned for myself.. most of the people that I continuosly talk with on the internet are close personal friends of mine anyway... lately, I have had two people in my life that have just unexpectedly run off and married someone they met on the internet just a month or two before... I guess I was just really wondering if other people were as eery as I was about meeting people online, or not... I mean, I am pretty much married now and I am really not concerned about myself, but I was just wondering if other people ever wondered about the other person's true self or motive... by the way the people I knew; one was married and left her husband and two children and married another man from we dont even know where and we haven't seen her since.. and the other has actually been married twice.. both guys she met on the internet and both of them turned out to be jerks afterwards... i just dont understand why people put so much trust in someone they really know nothing about... thanks again for your response!! | |

Well I never knew that what you were on about, I thought it was just about friendship, well you never know do you? I myself has married for 28yre and I'm a bit long in a tooth for all that sort of things, but how on earth can you fall in love on the net? nope I rather have a good friendship and have a lot of laughs. It still baffles me.

| amanda08 (163) | 3 months ago | I have to say that I agree... although it would be nice to believe that everyone we meet online we think we can trust that they are being honest with us.... but that is unfortunately just not the reality of it... everyday I turn on the news and hear of children being victimized from online predators... it sickens me... and I often hear of people leaving their families without a word of where they are going and disappearing into the sun with someone they have only known online, never to be heard of again! so I do agree with your comment... thank you for your response!:) | |
