It starts already! | | I've been up with the baby and the toddler for over an hour. The baby is playing by himself happily in his playpen, and the toddler is watching cartoons. Just now my 5 year olds come downstairs and one of them plops themselves on the sofa to watch cartoons too. Within minutes she's fighting with the toddler, and the toddler is screaming over something. Why do kids do this? Why do they have to fight with each other from the minute they wake up, to the minute they go to bed? When the older kids aren't around, the toddler can be the sweetest boy you'd ever meet, but while they're around all he ever does is whine and cry! It really gets very tiring, to the point where I just can't listen to it anymore. I do what I can, but nothing seems to make it stop. I've tried seperating them, but with their attention spans, they end up forgetting they're supposed to be seperated and end up wandering off to play with each other, which ends up a disaster. I give them time outs, but again, they forget why they're there and end up messing around the whole time. I would just like a day of peace in this house, is that too much to ask?

Today seems to be a good day so far. I have nor been hearing too much arguing coming out of them. I tell you though, my 8 year old sure can make his sister screech sometimes.

katsmeow1213 (1405) | 1 month ago | Apparently kids just think this is their job. My oldest picks on the twins, the twins pick on the toddler, and the toddler is already picking on the baby, who's only 6 months. It's so funny too, because rarely is there another combination. My oldest is very providing for the toddler and baby, and never pick on them... only the twins. The twins obviously pick on their older brother as payback, and on the toddler, but they leave the baby alone, and rarely do they pick on each other. The toddler of course picks on the twins as payback, and on the baby, but gets along fine with the oldest.

| | 2. Johnnypenn (174) | 1 month ago | Haha! My siblings are 12, 13 and 14 and 16. I can count on at least 2 fights a day. This is what kids do, the best thing is to probably teach them that if they fight, they can't do the activity. If that means doing a chore or going into time out. Also, with my two younger brothers, hitting, bitting, punching and other violence seems to be the norm. I hate it. That's why as soon as I actually get my lisence, I am so outta here!

You are right it is just fights all the way, for the main part mine get on and then the eldest who is 16 comes in the room and all hell breaks loose. I have four, 16, 7,6 and 2 and it is the 16 year old that causes everything, he was away all last week and I tell you what it was bliss, hardly any falling out at all and what there was I could deal with. He comes home and within minutes chaos reigns and I cannot stop it, he wont listen. I mean he towers me now so I am nothing to him, this might sound really awful but I wish he was of an age to leave home, I love him to bits but he just causes me aggro to the point that I want to leave.

katsmeow1213 (1405) | 1 month ago | Yeah, around here it always depends. The oldest usually does the majority of the instigating, but lately the twins have been doing it too. I tell ya it is a lot more peaceful when you take at least 1 kid out of the equation. I would have to say it's the older boys though. My daughter keeps to herself for the most part, but the boys are always fighting each other.

| | 4. GreenMoo (1783) | 1 month ago | I sympathise! With 7 years between my boys, I thought that they'd not fight. Pah1 how wrong could I be?! The eldest if forever trying to stop the youngest from doing stuff, and the little one shreiks like he's being murdered. I know the eldest has only the best intentions, but really it's more bother to have him watch his brother than it is to do it myself!

katsmeow1213 (1405) | 1 month ago | Yep, my kids do that too. The oldest tries to tell the twins what they can and can't do, and often he'll whine about it even though they aren't doing anything that will bother him. Then they whine at him. The toddler also shrieks to the point of driving me insane!
