  William Peterson (Gil Grissom) on CSI Las Vegas will be leaving the show this season, it was just announced. He will leave after the 10th episode, which will probably take them to the Christmas break.
How will they ever replace Grisson? Peterson will make some guest appearances and will still be an executive producer of the show, but his character will be leaving to "find himself" after a great deal of emotional turmoil.
Darn it, he is the main reason I never miss an episode. I guess people have to move on on real life, but we so want to stay mired in familiar territory as viewers. I will surely miss him.

My hubby and I are wondering how they are going to play his leaving out. Is he going to go pursue his teachings, or his he leaving to go be with Sara? Did she give him an ultimatum that for him to be with her, he has to leave LasVegas? I really look forward to it, but don't look forward to him leaving!!

But at least he remains one of the executive producers so maybe he will have a strong intuition as to what to do about the storylines and actors.
I wish he weren't leaving, but it was inevitible at some point. People have to move on with their lives I guess. | |

They will have to write a reason for him to leave, and I hope it is something that we can smile about with tears in our eyes and as I am an incurable romantic I hope it is so that he and Sara will live happily ever after. I wonder about the replacement though. I hope they do not play the race card as happened on a couple of CBC shows, that is NCIS.

7. hellcowboy (3990)  | 6 months ago |  That totally sucks that Grissom is leaving the show,because he was the glue that held the whole thing together,because he always managed to motivate his team no matter what happens,and I bet the show is going to lose a whole lot of viewers,since first Sarah left,and the Warrick died,and now Grissom is leaving,so that just leaves Nick and Catherine from the original team,and I wonder how long before they will either leave the show,or have their characters killed off,I will really miss Grissom,because he was one of the main reasons I watched the show,and I do not know if I can continue watching knowing that Grissom will not be on it next season.

I could see losing one key player but three. CSI has always been one of my favorite shows and now it is just a shell of its former self. | |

His a perfect fit to the show, the core of it all. He doesn't need to be on the show all the time but when you know that he'll talk or investigate later even for just a moment the show becomes lively and the plot even livelier. I guess Life does go on for all of us and also for Mr. Peterson. We'll have just to hope that the character replacement would fill his shoes and the show.

Never really got into the New York one, always just seemed to dark and maybe it was just the day it was on that I never really had time for it.

I do hop they can find a suitable replacement for his role. I think they have made the role vital already that removing that character would make the show rather incomplete.

He wanted to leave last year, but they talked him into staying for another season, although he took some time off to do a stage play somewhere else then returned to the show. I think maybe he is just wanting to expand his options instead of burning out in the same role for several more years. Our loss. | |
